Best crossover 12G shotgun for trap and hunting ?

For an O/U, I would look at Citori and Beretta field guns. A trap gun would not be my choice for waterfowl , as they shoot to a higher point of impact for rising targets, and hunting waterfowl the birds are dropping into the decoys. Expect to pay around $2000, or possibly more for an O/U in very good condition.

I still recommend the used Beretta AL391. The stock is adjustable for length, cant and drop. I prefer skeet over trap but it's an all around nice shooter. 28" barrel for trap, skeet and hunting works real well.
391 Extrema is a good choice, the Beretta 301, 302 and 303 if they have interchangeable chokes is a good choice as well.

If you are looking for warranty or any semblance of it there is none any more .At least with the dreaded S back east.

Hi All,
Looking for your input on what you consider the best available 12g shotgun for trap and hunting ?
Max budget is $1500 new and no Turkish made shotguns please.
Semi auto or Over/Under only.
Would like to stick with a renown brand (for great warranty and customer service if needed)
Thanks for your help
Cheers
New Model SKB; Fantastic Shot guns.

Hmmm... On the used market, you're going to have to look long and hard for a B grade O/U with 3 inch chambers (duck hunting), and removeable chokes, with your current budget.

Thank you all for your input. The gun will definitely be used more for trap then hunting. (Hunting would be for ducks.)
I spent some time browsing for reviews and will have a look at the SX4's, A300, Browning Silver and Mossberg Pro 940.
The fit will probably determine the one to buy.
Not sure about the others but the 940 field have shims for getting the drop and cast just right.

My Beretta A300 Outlander has been good for both single trap and upland game hunting.

It's 7.25 lbs but the balance is good so it feels lighter to carry for me.

I got it for $900 when Wholesale Sports went TU. I got a new hard Beretta case for it on sale for $30.

I like it a lot and it's a great gun for teaching new shooters because it shoots so soft. It shoots everything well, cheapa55, low brass, bulk CT crap, everything.

The Instinct should work fine for your intended purpose. It appears to have a similar receiver to FAIR, Fausti and a few others and those guns are pretty good for the money which is much cheaper than Beretta, Browning, Rizzini and others.
Once you get totally hooked on clay target shooting you can retire it for hunting only and get a nice target gun.
