Best deal on a Ruger 10/22?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering where you picked your Ruger 10/22 up at and where you've seen the best price for one. As well I'd love to know what shells a new buyer should avoid or cause a higher rate of jams.

It would help if you listed your location. Everything I have seen is around $250 for the basic blued model.

As for ammo, every rimfire is a law unto itself. All you can do is try a selection of brands/types and see what yours likes.

Man I just picked up a 10/22 "Tactical target" from Wanstalls, best price I could find when you consider their $10 flat rate shipping, fast too, bought it sunday online, it my house today the next province over.

They have basic models there too check em out.
 
I guess knowing where I live is a pretty important factor! I live in the Edmonton area

Can you post what works well in your Ruger and I'll take a consensus of what shoots the best?
 
Should be easy in edmonton, check cabela's, wholesale sports, P&D. See who has what you want and what the prices are like.
 
I avoid all remington ammo except the sub-sonics. My rugers like win dynapoint, Fed AE, CCI minimag, blazers, and standard velocity. Your local big sporting good stores probably have the best prices on new guns. Expect to pay right around $250.
 
I bought a blued synthetic model at WSS last June for $199. It wasn't advertised and the price in 'the computer' was less than the tag on the shelf. After cashing in a few gift cards it cost me $40 :D

I was just at the store 8pm today (same day as you) and there was a nice new $249 10/22 on the rack. Maybe try another visit?
