Best deals on bulk ammo? .223, 9mm, 12ga

And now for the good news...just advised by a major distributor yesterday that the price of Federal and Winchester ammo is going up again June 01/08. No specific percentage given at this time. Stock up ASAP. Phil.

Am I just a n00b and dont know how to use CanadaAmmo website or what?

All I can find is 7.62 all the time.

Cheapest I've found so far was 439/1000rnds from frontier.

Call CANAM. They have other types of ammo, but the stock changes/dries up so fast its not even worth advertising on their website.

Looks like I've got 250$ going into another 1000 rounds of ammo. Sigh.

Amo cost

I don't get it, with the Canadian dollar so strong why are we paying more for amo costs. I don't hear the guys in the US complaining about double and tripling of there costs and this is what would be required to justify increased cost to us. Is this just another case of Canadians getting rippped off?

You don't look in the right places then...

Part of the reason for the price in creases IS the poor price of the USD. Many of the raw materials are mined here in Canada. When our dollar goes up, so does the price of the raw materials, and eventually the final product.

Value of the dollar notwithstanding, the metals DO have a relatively stable value. If the value of the dollar goes down, but the value of the metal stays the same, then essentially you end up paying more dollars for the same amount of metal. Which is what's happening.
Now might be a good time for a Canadian ammo manufacturer to break into the market

OK ... well since this is a 'share we're all a part of a group' forum... share up some places to get ammo at decent prices.

Saying "I paid X for 1k and you paid so much more" aint really helping, but just rubbing it in.

Tholter...responding to your original question here are our current (until we run out and have to replace with new higher cost items) prices on requested ammo. Our .223 is selling for $249/ 500rnds 55 grn FMJ...$275/500 rnds 62 grn FMJ. 9mm is $152/ 500 rnds 115 grn FMJ. Phil.

Does the high price on ammo right now have anything to do with the fact that we are at war? Seems to be very little nato mil surplus around as far as I can tell.
