Best dedicated turkey gun

I've used everything from 20 ga to 10 ga. 2-3/4" 3/4 oz loads to 3.5" 2-1/4 oz loads in single barrel break actions to sxs to ou to pump and semi auto. There's no perfect gun. Find one you like that fits you well in which you're comfortable shooting and practice with it until you can hit what you're looking at without question

This year I'll be using a 2.5" chambered 1890 Charles Daly hammer gun.

Pattern your gun and loads and hunt within your limits

Kicking it old school. Very nice and pretty tough to top!!! Please share a couple pictures if you are successful.

I just hope my 2.5" ammo shows up soon. I've been waiting 2.5 months for it and it's still not been shipped. I may have to load black powder in brass hulls to get this old gun shooting again

I love my little 20 gauge 870 youth. The important thing is to try as many different loads as you can to find the best patterns. I shoot heavy shot num 6s and a set of Williams fire sites. Its devistating out to 40 yards, going to try some hevi 13 number 7s now that they are legal here in Ontario.

This year I will likely use an Fox A grade SxS choked full and Full from 1909. Have used M12's, Wingmasters, Fox SW 16 gauge SxS, Citori 16 gauge O/U and Browning Double Autos in the past. They all worked. It ain't the gun that ensures success, although, as noted in other posts, if the gun is not shooting to POA, it may ensure failure. Chose a gun and get to know that gun.

Brybenn, what ammo are you waiting for? Some RST??

Rst 12 ga 2.5" 1 oz lite #6 plastic hull. They arrived just yesterday finally. Over a 3 month wait. Sunday my old Charles Daly will be patterned and if it throws decent patterns it will be used for turkey and pheasants

Anything will work... but I don't like junk either.

I got a flat of exactly that a while ago. Really like it.

I just use my Winchester with an extra full choke. No optics required, just call 'em in close. I have 5 shot federal works well with my set up.

I have that same gun as well, was thinking of setting it up as a lighter option for running and gunning, what choke are you running?
