Best deer hunting in Canada

Don't waste your time hunting Manitoba, only small spikers:D. And anything big always tastes like sawdust, and don't forget all those toxic chemical spills that are playing havoc with the ecosystem.:puke:;)

i live on the border of SK and AB i hunt bouth sides.
hunted alberta for 2 1/2 weeks seen lots of does and only one trophy buck.
hunted SK for 4 hours and shot 2 bucks 159 and 171 and seen a dozen trophy bucks on the way home. i dont use a blind i just drive around.

Now Nish, that's the plan bro!Was out in AB working for a few months last year...loved it BTW.Figured I otta move out there somewheres around Lloydminster on the AB side, hunt all AB has to offer as a resident and Sask without a guide.I'm gonna need another freezer.;)

Yeah, yeah I know....now before the western peanut gallery chimes in,I've already heard it all."Welcome to Alberta....now go home"etc.etc. Just remember though,if it were'nt for us newfs(which apparently is everything east of Quebec?)digging up all that oil for ya's and building your refineries.....it'd be Mexicans and Chinese.

You guys are killing me, I hunt with a buddy at his cottage and for the past 3 years I've seen only button bucks and does,

That's the harsh reality of the whitetail deer hunting in Quebec. Too many hunters that don't wish to "let him go so he can grow" = shortage of mature bucks + unbalance female/male ratio (10:1) = :(

The thing is, If you live in QC and you are serious about one day having your chance at a trophy buck, you have got to start looking at hunting out of province.

...and shot 2 bucks 159 and 171

Every season I pray to the hunting god's for a 140+.... that's almost unheard of in my province!

I believe that deer hunting is good for most part of Canada where there is deer.

If not, check out Anticosti Island, Quebec.

Just returned from Anticosti last September. Although I did leave there with a nice 8pt. piebald deer I was a little disappointed to see that most mature bucks weight in at 120-130lbs on the island? That's about the same size as my dog.

I think that while all three provinces have many great opportunities for deer hunting, it certainly depends on exactly where you go. I have hunted all three successfully in the last two years, but I won't say where!! In all three locations, I had tremendous hunts.

That being said, I would have to say SK and MB are pretty much neck and neck for number one with AB a very close 3rd.

And as far as the taste of the meat between the three, I couldn't tell a difference. Or at least I don't think so. I would more peg any differences to ages of the animals.

All true, and we appreciate it. As for the deer hunting, define "best". Biggest? Most? Easiest? - dan

Well it appears as if the grass truly is greener on the other side of the fence? All Manitobans agree that Sask is better,Saskatchewaners like Alberta and MB,and Albertans like anywhere other than Alberta,LOL.

In British Columbias Queen Charlotte Islands, the yearly limit on deer is 15, and the season is on deer is open for most of the year. I am told that the deer on Queen Charlotte are small. Well, one could combine a hunt on the Queen Charlotte with some exellent halibut fishing, and, or elk and bear hunt :)
