Really liked the Browning A Bolt magazines, as they could not fall out and get lost, and you could top up the magazine without taking it out of the rifle.
The Browning X Bolt magazines have been working fine for me so far, but cannot top up without taking out of the rifle.
Really like the Sako 85 magazines so far, and appreciate that they fixed the dropped magazine issue they were experiencing on the 75's.
My pre-81 BLR magazines have been working well for many years; I just have to be careful with the one, as it needs to be seated properly each time or it will drop out. Suspect the catch tab is worn a bit, as inspecting it visually doesn't appear any different from the other magazine. Luckily it has only come out twice during recoil, once at the bench, and once in the field where it landed on the hay bale I was shooting off of, so wasn't lost and noticed as soon as I cycled the action after the initial shot on the elk. Have just been more diligent when using it since to ensure that it is seated properly, and no more issues.
Never had any issues with my Winchester Model 88 magazines.
Hard to beat the Ruger 10/22 magazines!
Only issue I have really had with a detachable magazine is the ones that came with the Rem 700 DM for SA (358 Win). They will not stack or feed properly. Gunsmith says they are a common problem. Changing it out for BDL bottom metal and magazine box.
