Best Dillon XL 650 add ons and upgrades

Hey there,

I didn't see this on the stickies so hopefully this hasn't been repeated a ton before. I'm about to pick up my first progressive and looking for recommended upgrades or add ons for the Dillon XL 650. I've been reloading with a single stage forever and I think I have that process pretty much dialled. However I've recently got into some gun gaming and I need to be able to crank up my volume.


Dillon seems like it has a ton of aftermarket support which is great. However, I'm trying to figure out what upgrades will help me get the most out of my press and am a little lost. Other than dies and shell plates, what would you recommend? I'm looking to reload .223, 9mm and .45 acp and leave my precision rifle rounds to my rock chucker.

Case feeder with conversions for all the calibers you intend to load, is the best accessory. It'll save you the most time / effort.

Bullet feeder is pretty sweet too, though the Mr Bulletfeeder price is kind of outrageous. And it doesn't yield as much increase in load speed. Also it generally costs you the loss of the powder check station for a bit of safety factor lost.
 
I already had most of my dies. I just bought the dillon sizing die by itself ( the dillon sizer has a more pronounced radius on it and gets the case started easier) and used my existing seat/crimp die. This lets me use both the powder check and the bulletfeeder (I wouldn't go without the powder check now that I've used it) The spent primer add on and live primer catcher are worth it too. I also bought a quick detach plate so that I can move it out of the way, but once it's all set up with the case feeder that thing isn't going anywhere
 
Multiple tool heads are a blessing as well. Set everything once and that is it. If you plan on changing calibers it is a great option.
 
Dillon seating dies are great, roller bearings at indexing cam and case feed station, roller handle, spent primer mod to bottle or container of choice. and live primer catcher as opposed to the factory "ski jump". and I absolutely love my loaded round counter. Happy loading
 
The best option is the lighting. I have the Star del kit - when you see what you are doing :).then the bullet feeder ! I also love the primer and case interruptor. Make life easier.
 
So I ended up with a 650, case feeder, bullet feeder, shell plate bearings, a bunch of extra tool heads and a spent primer tube. I'm hopeful that should get me on my way. I think I'll going to try that for now and see if there's anything else I want after I run a couple thou through it (and my debit card cools off). Thanks for all the suggestions!
 
Ya ya add ons....I did the same bloody thing ...this and that had them all ...ya worked but caused problems.....
The best thing I did was sell the 650....and bought a mark 7 ....10 station..no doubling up one station one function
 
Case feeder, roller handle and the rt1500 press mounted trimmer. I do high volume loading for 223 a couple of times a year and this made 223 case prep way more bearable for 223.
