Best DIY changeable barrel/caliber rifle?

I searched and didn't find this topic so if those of you with personal experience could chime in and give your opinion, thank you.
I'm having a tough time deciding between the XCR or ACR for a NR rifle choice. If there are other rifles in the NR class that don't require a gunsmith to change barrels/calibers please let me know.

From what I've seen the Tavor doesn't require a gunsmith to change out the barrel. However caliber conversion kits are currently unavailable.

The ACR would be a great contender in this area....... if there were any bloody aftermarket support/barrels/caliber conversions .

For now for ease of caliber conversion from what I'm aware of the XCR currently leads the pack.

So all the "black" rifles are new to me, your saying with an AR I can just swap out the upper using the same lower and have what I want, just not non-restricted?

I've real got to get into this area and learn.

By what your saying I could have an upper in .223 and another in something else and still not have what it would cost for a XCR with two barrels?

Ar is restricted unfortuneatly, but yes you can swap different uppers to the same lower, if the ammo fits in the same mag.
Like 223, 7.62x39, 6.8spc, 50beo,
With the xcr you need to buy a kit they go for 700$ brand new. You can buy them on ee from 500$ and up.
The kit comes with barrel, bolt, shell deflector. You can swap barrels and bolts under 5 min on the xcr. Just make sure you tighten the Alan bolt 1/4 after hand tight, or 200ft/lb

YES, yes you are. I have owned multiple revisions of the XCR-l in all calibers and a few M's. never fed them anything that wasn't the cheapest by the case lot. Usually norinco and never had any issues with reliability.

As far the OP's question is concerned in a NR rifle the XCR is winning in the caliber conversion and modularity field.

Where the XCR had a problem with the cheap stuff is in the older versions during break in. During the break in procedure it wasn't advisable to feed it Wolf ammo, but after break in (200 - 300 rounds) it wasn't ammo sensitive anymore.

AFAIK the newer gas systems have less issues with break in, but still require a proper break in procedure.

I do have to agree with C77, the AR is incredibly quick to change an upper. If it were non-restricted it'd be the leader of the pack in Canada. However I should point out that the ACR and XCR share the same quality and can have dedicated uppers to change out without worrying about barrels. I believe Camp Cook was running 6.8 and .223 on dedicated XCR uppers, making caliber changes as easy as pushing out pins and swapping uppers.
