Best explanation yet for numbers on SKS front sight

I've never bought into the whole accuracy myth related to the numbers on the front sight of a Russian SKS. The numbers are the journal size of the barrel for parts that are pressed on. The AK uses this system,so it goes to reason that the SKS would also.

That seems completely plausible! Can you post more detail on this system as used with the AK?

I picked this info up off of the best SKS site out there. They did'nt really elaborate. But I`m sure if you use google,you can find the info you`re looking for.
