Best Factory Ammo For A Savage 10FP - 308

Federal 168 gr. BTHP or Hornady 168 gr. Amax?? :?:

that's a guess, I've never shot factory ammo for a 308. I'd just assume any precision tactical stuff would be the most accurate on average. Of course every gun is different.

I'd tell you about my avatars, but then I'd have to kill you

The federal Gold Medal is good, but expensive.

Some of the guys are shooting the Federal Hi shok and it is giving exellant accuracy from their rifles!

If you want good ammo you can contact Paul at Rangesports Unlimited, he has a deal on match ammo right now.
His # is (250) 372 7030.

Mine really liked the Hornady moly 155gr I was feeding it, however if your thinking of reloading in the future the brass is useless.

I put a couple boxes of Federal Match 168gr through it in the begining and it liked that to.

I don't think you'll have a problem in what you feed it.

If you have a short barrel like mine 20" the twist 1:10 is too tight for light bullets. Mine likes 178 gr handloads or plain old winchester 180gr silvertips.

I get really good groups with my Savage 10FPLE1A with the Federal Gold Medal Match... mind ya, the portugese surplus is damn sweet too! -jm

I saw a 2 boxes of Norma 168 GR.

$91 per 20 round box........

 $91..... a few more $$$ and you could pick up a Lee anniversary kit and make your own

Mine shot the Fed 168gn match well but I have been able to get better accuracy out of reloading. Plus, I can reload 20 accurate rounds for way less than $40 a pop.
I was loading 155 gn Amax with great accuracy out to 300yds BUT at 400 and 500 yds they would key hole. The 10FP with the 1 - 10" twist just doesn't spin the lighter bullets fast enough to keep them stable at longer range. My LE2B loves the Hornady 178 gn Amax bullets. I think you'll find that the heavy bullets really work well in these rifles.
