best/favorite .22

Have had about 100 different gems, usually have a stock of a dozen functional with more in a projects pile...picking a fav would be tough. I'm most sentimental about my first gem, but that doesn't make it the best.

For southpaws, pumps, levers and semi's are very convenient...until you can do things right! (intentional pun, and no offence required)

Of m'pumps my favourite is a Rossi 62 (but have had a few Remington 12s, A Winnie 1890, and Marlin 20) with Remington 12 being a very close second. I have an old Stevens here, but haven't put it through it's paces yet. For levers? Hands down my '54 Marlin 39. For semi's? I have a semi weakness so it's a tie among a few.

As suggested already, and I'll echo, the older gems are very tough to beat. I've had Mossbergs that were older than my parents that still shot beautifully. Fine shooting, affordable examples are out there.

Sigh...too many .22's, and too little time (and money).

I agree the Henry is loads of fun but I hold my Smith and Wesson 41 pistol as my favorite it shoots great and very nice quality at least my older one from 1971
 
I love my CIL 310. It shoots as good as or better than my custom (and expensive) 1022 ever did and 1/3 or the price. I don't see that one leaving the safe.

I've got an older Ruger 77/22 in the canoepaddle Zytel stock, along with open sights.
It's my go to rifle. Hits exactly where I aim, everytime.
Just recently took my "new to me" Steyr Zephyr out to see how it shot. In one word- fantastic!
Edited to add- Posted before I knew what the OP was inquiring about. I've also got a couple of BL-22's and a 9422, all nice rifles and exceptionally accurate.
I've had many 10-22's over the years and they all work well.

CZ-452 Lux with a Leupold VX1 2-7x

Gopher accurate to 100m, well balanced and easy to point. Easy on the eyes. I have the YoDave trigger kit. One of these days I might get around to installing it.

I have a basic 10/22 carbine that's fun at the range and for plinking.

A Little Badger as a trunk/quad/knockabout .22, pretty handy lightweight little rifle. I actually shot more gophers with it this year than with the Ruger, because it was more likely to be with me.

A few others that get used from time to time.

But when it's time to do some serious population control on the gophers, it's the CZ.

p.s. If your wife isn't questioning the number of .22 rifles you have, then you don't have enough yet.
 
A very tough choice, I would have to say my BSA Martini Internationals MK11 & MKV. These would be followed closely by my Anschutz MPR & 2007 then my modified Ruger 10/22.

All of these rifles can shoot far better than I can hold.

In hand gun it would have to be my High Standard Citation 7.25" bbl 107 series.
 
my 597HB green stock. Love this thing, tack driver and with the vq hammer and extractor its a amazing toy. Anyone who shoots it loves how easy it is to shoot. Have not even used the very good ammo. Got to buy some cci ammo and see what it really can pull off
 
1936ish Mauser small bore ES350b bolt action rifle, with a Leupold 20 power M8 scope mounted obsenely high.

About one month ago I was shooting superb 5-6" groups at 200 yards. The grouping was kind of teardrop shaped due to the afternoon breezes.

Of course that evening I accidently bumped the scope while cleaning it! :(

I got rid of all my .22s except for a CIL310 and a BRNO 581. Had only two levers. A Henry H001 and a BL22. Not a lever guy but the browning was far superior.
 
I am picking up a ns522, waiting on transit.

Currently my sa22 is my favorite. Had 2 but sold one to my buddy. Not a paper puncher, but a great carrying gun for hunting.

Shot a walking grouse at 41 paces few weeks ago, good enough for hunting. Able to take it down and shove into a pack for when i am fishing etc is a bonus.

I have a nice CIL/Anschutz... Can't remember the model #... Bold action, mag fed, carbine length, medium bbl... Man, it's an accurate, good rifle. I keep trying to convince myself to sell it to make room for something else, because I don't shoot it enough. But that motivates me to take it out and use it again, and then I remember why I can't bring myself to sell it. So accurate, and such a nice pointing little carbine.

The Anschutz made CIL rifles are just stellar rifles, and can be had for very reasonable prices on the used market. Really a great value for $$ if you can spot them. Savage released, model for model, the same Anschutz rifles in the U.S. as CIL released up here. You should look at the prices they go for down there - double or more what we pay for a used one. Guys south of the border grab them up and cherish them like few other 60's and 70's made .22 rifles.
 
If you could locate one of the 541 or 581 Remingtons in their left hand permutations, you would have a real gem.

CZ also makes some LH models that are great bolt action rimfires.

The levers mentioned are fine, but will not stay with a decent bolt for accuracy.

The only .22LR I own is my 1827F right now. I love the gun, but it's a wee bit awkward for just carrying around the field or putting behind the seat of the truck. Too bad it's so accurate and smooth to operate, hard to resist using it!

Someone needs to make a sporter stock for that action.....
