best/favorite .22

If you could locate one of the 541 or 581 Remingtons in their left hand permutations, you would have a real gem.

CZ also makes some LH models that are great bolt action rimfires.

The levers mentioned are fine, but will not stay with a decent bolt for accuracy.

Regards, Dave.

But the bolt lacks in the fun factor.

We've got dozens of different 22 rifles, from single shot target rifles, BSA Martinis, repeaters, levers, semi autos, but the little rifle that's becoming my favourite for general plinking, hunting and having fun...

Browning Trombone.

A handy pump action rifle. It's the sweetest handling little rifle I've used in a long time. The throw of the pump is a little over 1 inch, the length of a 22 cartridge. Extremely fast and easy cycling, a little flick of the wrist, nothing like a pump shotgun.

We've got two. I got one, and it ended up being a very early example, in almost unused condition, I didn't really want to take that one into the bush. So I picked up another one in not quite as good condition that will get most of the use.

Just a random picture from the internet, not mine, I don't have a sling.

I have owned over 150 rimfire rifles over the years... the two that stand out to me as plinkers (since that is your criteria) are the Henry Frontier (H001T) and the Ruger 77/22... the Frontier is about as fun and smooth as a rimfire lever gets... AND accurate! The Ruger 77/22 handles so well and has the plinking benefit of using 10/22 25 round magazines... a cool feature in a nice bolt action rifle (I have also done conversions of 77/22's to .17 HM2);

You can't go wrong with a CZ if your thinking about long term. Always super smooth and eats up pretty much all .22 (just make sure you buy the plastic mag instead of the metal ones)

My hands down favorite is my original 1967 manufacture Browning Tbolt. It's topped with a old Redfield 3-9 and is the most accurate 22 I own. Got it from my grandpa when he retired and moved to the city. I keep toying with the idea of refinishing the stock and getting it looking like new, but I always hesitate. All those scratches and small dings are from a lot of actual use by grandpa and add to the sentimental value for me.

I'd still like to find a full stock CZ452 in 22lr to go along with my one in 17hmr. Nice guns and I find them extremely comfortable to shoot.

Love my Henry ... just sweet to handle...

My favorite that would work for you, I have a rossi 62 stainless. Shoots great and ever has an issue. I use it for plinking and for in the scabbard on my horse. My other favorite 22s here is my fullstocked anschutz( for fair weather hunting) , 7722 canoe paddle, cz 452 style, a few early bolt action mossbergs, and some stainless model 60s and 795ss, and an XT 22 tube mag stainless. I have a second chance at good eyesight and have recently removed 6 scopes and am enjoying open sights more then ever now!

From what I own, here is my order of faves.

1. Marlin model 60 stainless (with open sights it can't be beat)
2. Henry Lever action (shorts are a whole lotta fun, and when you can only find the cheap ammo it will cycle ANYTHING)
3. Taurus tracker 9 shot revolver (because its a 9 shot revolver lol)
4. Ruger 10\22 stainless (needed something to put the red dot sight I got as a gift otherwise could do with out it)

Just need/want a remington fieldmaster (older one) and a Henry mares leg and I'll be set for rimfires, assuming I can find the ammo that is lol.

I have had a Squires Bingham model 20p for 15 years, Only issue I had ever had was finding a replacement spring for the factory 15rd mag.

I see lots of guys with the Ruger 10/22, with new stocks talk about all the mods they did to their rifles and I have never had to do a thing to this puppy.

You mod Rugers because you can not because you need to. I've had mine since 76 and never changed a thing on it. Shoots great, even after thousands of rounds.

I bought a Cooey 600 at auction because it was Canadian, but I wasnt very impressed with the quality... the Savage mkII on the other hand, made in Lakefield Ontario is a friggin sweet little rig.
