I am looking for a gun fixed barrel, 1000ish fps, I want something I won't regret buying. I am currently eyeing the weihrauch wh77 & hw97.

I have a HW97 and it is the cats whiskers... Having said that, I also had a HW 77 back in the early 1980's that I really enjoyed.

My understanding is that the 97 is the shorter version of the 77 nowadays.

I shot my 97 over my chrony as soon as I got it a couple of months ago. I bought it used but it had hardly been shot and was still deiseling a bit. Over the chrony she shot an average of 876 fps with a max spread of only 7.4 fps which is great for a springer. I was shooting JSB Exacts and my rifle is a .177.

The only other underlever I personally would consider would be an Air Arms TX 200 MK III:)

Cheers

I have a Diana 52 side cocking rifle. Considerably higher velocity that the Air Arms, and less expensive, but still a high quality rifle.

TX200 HC in walnut if you want the overall best...IMO. I have 3 underlevers (460 mag, HW77 and TX200) and the TX trumps the others by a mile. It shoulders, looks and it's accuracy is second to none.

I've had an Air Arms Prosport, and although it's a beautiful gun, I found myself preferring my HW97. It just fit me better and had a nicer "feel". I was also very fond of a HW77 I had a number of years ago. The Diana 48/52 is indeed more powerful, but I found it very clunky and poor-handling, with a very harsh and unpleasant vibration/recoil. It also demands that you pay a great deal of attention to your grip on the rifle, and your technique needs to be perfect in order to get the best results. The HW guns are much easier to shoot. When it became time to trim the gun collection to manageable levels, the 97 is the one that I kept and will never sell.

Go for the HW 100 s . you will not regret it . 60 shots per fill , 14 rd mag , zero recoil watch the kill in scope . I have had Diana springers they dont come close to the weirauch but they are
also twice the money . Match grade trigger , ect . I shoot gofers out to 100 yards no problem . Very addicting gun to shoot . An absolute tack driver.

If you choose the Weihrauch HW 97, you will have arrived at the top.

If you're hunting, the 22 is awesome. For field target or punching paper, 177 is great.

I'd rather hold-over a bit more to make a longer shot with a 22 pellet rather than having a 177 pellet get blown around in the wind.

The integral 'muzzle break' works well and keeps it a bit quieter...

The TX-200 is a good choice too. No muzzle break and several other subtle differences - the biggest one being higher price.

I think the HW is as accurate as the TX and would put the savings into a better scope.

I'm not a fan of side-cockers. PCP is fine if you want to be "tied to the bottle" (air tank).

I really enjoy shooting the HW 97 in 22. The 177 has been on my mind lately.....

Good luck with your decision.
