How does a full stock carbine score in your liking?

I think folks have hit the nail on the head. There is a trend these days to look at rifles only as a tool (I think this is partially why ss and sythetic is popular). Then there are those that look at them as a piece of art. But most of us fall somewhere in between. I guess whether you like full-stock rifles depends where you land on the spectrum.

The classic wood full length stocks are susceptable to changes in weather and pressure, the barrel band is another issue as well as heat dissipation. Now I do realize that some are wicked shooters and I am not slamming them. But generally speaking and in practical terms only they are not my first choice for a hunting rifle... there did I do that without stepping on toes....:)

All wood stocks are susceptible to changes in weather and humidity. As far as the barrel band and heat dissipation, have you actually ever owned or shot a full stock rifle, or is this just stuff you have read?

The question is not about your "first choice for a hunting rifle", but whether or not they are accurate enough for hunting.

Completely aside from esthetics, "but generally speaking and in practical terms only" the answer is that they are.

You're a good man 'REDD! You just need a little Model 7 full stock in your life. ;)

fullstock rifle

Hello there. I have an Interarms Mark X Mannlicher Carbine with the flat bolt handle chambered in 308 WIN. Right now it sports a Leupold M8 fixed 4 power. It is a very handy rifle indeed and also it can shoot. Nice looks and functional weapon. I believe the fullstock versions come from the Cavalry use in the early 20th century, Spanish and then Swedish Mauser Carbines. Regards
