What does your gun like?

M

x2 on that one.

Some pistols are finicky (like my CZ75) and others will eat anything. I currently am using 147gr Copper plated. Tried some lighter heads in the past and wasn't reliable because of the overall length they needed to be at.

IMO, best way to know is to try it in small batches or ask someone who has the same pistol.

Both my CZ75 Shadow SP-01 and my Glock 17 Gen 4 seem to like the AE in all three grains- 115, 124 and 147. I just finished a case of the 115 and bought a case of 124 today.

9mm ammo

Try the different bullet weights first....don't buy what someone else recommends and get stuck with a whole whack of inaccurate ammo....my Beretta 92 likes the 147gr. ammo but that doesn't mean it would necessarily work in whatever you have....

My S&Ws do very well with S&B 124gr; better than with S&B 115gr.

It would be really best to try them before making a large purchase. No one here can tell you what will work best in your pistol.

CZ and several European pistol brands use 1 - 10 twist rate barrels. They should favour 115/124 gr bullets over the 147 gr. The S&W M&P has a 1 - 16 twist which should favour 124 - 147 gr bullets less good with 115 gr.

See what works in your gun and your abilities.

Take Care

I am a 147 grain type of guy. The subsonic loads seem to be very accurate in all my 9mm's. If a guy wants a little more poop out of your 9mm, there are some Power Pistol or VV loads out there that really rock a 147 grainer out there.

all mentioned by OP runs good in my SIGs pistols, no diff in grains or manuf (exmpt PMC)
I can say only that S&B ammo is cleaner compared with Win or AE and of course heavier bullet 147gr performs better in any pistol

I found that 115 was too snappy, 147 was a bit heavy and 124 was just right... buy a few boxes of each and shoot through them one at a time... you will get a feel for what you like...

Had an interesting moment just last night during our IDPA regular practice night.

I was shooting my Beretta 92fs. In the past it has always shot spot on to POA while using my preferred 124gn rounds. But recently I grabbed to cartons of 1000 Blazer alumium 115gn that were on sale for a price that I could just barely beat from reloading.

With the lighter Blazer projectiles all my shots were suddenly hitting about 2.5 inches low at around 15 yards. Yet this gun does nicely with 124's. Previous shooting with the same ammo with my CZ proved to be not noticably lower.

This lighter and faster bullet hitting low is very typical when shooting revolvers. So it would appear that the style of action for the Beretta barrel behaviour is sensitive to ammo weight in a manner similar to a fixed barrel revolver.

Whats the best type of toilet paper to take a dump with while out in the woods? Single ply or dual? What if you only have one little square? An old Airborne trick is to tear the center out, wipe anus with remainder, then fold center into a point to clean fingernail of remaining excrement. Ooh to answer the original question, silly me, my HK P7 likes 124gr thank you.

My CZ SP-01 (now sold) ate anything but was most accurate with AE 124 gain. I have only shot AE 124's in my Shadow & Trojan. I'm happy with the results.

OP, no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb answers.

I wouldn't but anything(few exceptions) in bulk I didn't try in my gun first. And don't count out 147gr. My glock seems to like the heavy stuff.
