Best Group of the day from my K31

My Mosin with Norinco Surp.

Scout mount 7x42.

Not too bad for surplus machine gun rounds.

For Ram Tac, uses .308Win loads as a guide. min. 39.1grs. gives 2480fps: max 43.4grs gives 2690 FPS. in the .308Win with 175gr bullet.
http://www.ramshot.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/WesternLoadGuide1-2016_Web.pdf

Capacity of 7.5x55 is closer to 30-06, but no need to push the pressure up as far.
.308Win loads will keep it in the GP11 pressure zone with the GP11 size case.

Ramshot tac 30-06 with 175gr bullet:
Min 40.1 for 2,457fps, Max 44.6 for 2,634fps.

Alliant list 48.7grs of RL-17 with 180gr bullet in .308Win at 2641fps.
Max loads in 7.5x55 CAN be higher than max .308 loads with with lower pressure.

I use 50grs RL-17 myself.

Use due diligence.

awesome, thanks.

I am shooting only out to 200m, and mostly at half that, so I go with less pressure. Its easier on the old girl and the old shoulder too.

I want to try it with some cheap 150grn bulk fmj bullets, but I fear that they won't be long enough to be that accurate? I guess for shooting steel at 50m it would be fine tho, and they are much cheaper.

"cheap" 150's may not be worth the price of the powder you'll be burning up..
155 Palma's do very well at shorter ranges and Rem 165gr SP, for the price.

Made 30 reloads w/175 Berger and 46 gr imr4350 in gp11 brass and got repeated 1in groups at 100 yds (with a scope )
My magnetospeed won't strap on this ( muzzle brake in the way ) so don't know velocity

Used a punch I shape on drill press w/ Emory cloth to the right size for a seal on the case mouth and filled case with water , put in press and punched out through die hole
I have the right berdain primer so once I touched up the primer hole with a tool . Found a recipe and went shooting

Hard to understand without a pic.. Can you post one of your gear?

I know the GP11 primer is crimped, is it easy to decap it?

I got the idea off you tube . Several ways to hydraulic primer out , then found a tool that would de- bur the crimp
Picture the case full of water and my punch sealing the case mouth but fitting and driving primer out ,I had to take the punch down slowly on the drill press sanding UNTILL it was just the right size . It takes a lot of time but I like using the gp11 brass , I got the right primer from a CGN member

A lee .30 cal hand decapping punch and #3 shellholder works perfect for hydraulic decapping. It doesn't even make much of a mess. Then the lee chamfer tool with a little hole drilled to allow the anvil in the case to remove the crimp, some berdan primers from Henry and you're off to the races.

How your punch seals the case mouth? is that possible? Please, show a pic. I am thinking turning the GP11 into boxer but if there is a press mount decap possible, might be good to keep the original Berdan structure.

That's what the drill press was for
Spin the punch and sand unti it fits the case mouth
Make it a thou or two bigger
Smaller and water squirts back instead of hydraulicing primer out
