x2 on a rifled barrel throwing 22 shot everywhere, i think for a time savage made a single shot mkI with a smooth bore i wonder how that would work...

Much better. They used to make smoothbore .22's for that purpose.

Good heavens! Why would you use a hollow point on grouse? Over the last 50 years I have shot countless Prairie Chicken and Bush Partridge with solid nose shorts, long, and long rifle. Even a shot though the breast is just a hole. Shorts work fine in the bush for grouse, as most shots are short distance anyways.

And yes, I shoot them on the ground.

ya I didn't know what hollow points did to small game, now i know. I picked up some whinchester super x today and get 1 ruffy and 2 spuce with them.

honestly, I always thought they made those things for the days of the "trick shooters", you know, the guy riding a horse while a girl throws plates or clays in the air and the rubes are inpressed by the shots, also, no chance of killing the audiance with stray rounds.
