best gun for deer

One that fits you and you shoot well.
Careers and reputations, not to mention magazine profits, have depended on this eternal question. The answer is, whatever is legal and will give you the one-shot clean kill. East or West, mule deer, whitetail, blacktail, close in, or longer range, there's where the fist fights begin. EVERYONE has an opinion.

It would be different for all of us I think, make, model, calibre whatever fits you best. I have tried .243, .270. 30-06, 30-30 and 300 win mag (too much for deer sized game, at least for me). Basically once again, whatever best fits the individual, but the noted calibres all worked well for me in Ruger, Remington, Winchester, Sako and Tikka. I now use either of my Sako 85’s in either .270 or 30-06, they both fit me well. Whatever you decide on enjoy yourself.

As you can see, no simple answer. Where will you hunt ie: what range. Most of the so called medium cal will do a good job. 6.5mm, the 7mm family and most of the 30 cal. I like the 7mm group. 7mm/08,7x57,& 280. Fit and practice are the important factors.q
