Best gun safe, bar none?

IF your planning on moving , Why not just build a safe room in your present house ?? Then when you move make the front door more ease of access and call it an extra storage room .
I understand the need or feeling for a safe , but all the ones I,ve seen have made me feel like you have to conform to somebody else,s designs and cramped . We have a 6 x 10 walk in closet in our master bedroom and to me that would be a perfect sized safe room / gun safe .
The other issue with buying a safe , Ok , so it fits this house . But what about the next house ?? What if it wont fit thru the doors / hall ways of the new house .

The best safe is a stealth one that no one knows about. If you're not handy have a contractor build you a false wall with a mirror or bookshelf entrance under the idea it's going to be a closet or panic room. Then buy a nice gun rack for inside.

I have always used "Stack-On" safes and cabinets. Not once have I had a gun stolen, or damaged by fire and/or water. Of course, your results may vary.

This is only applicable to a smash & grab B&E. It isn't applicable in a situation where the thieves have targeted you because they have knowledge of your firearms collection. If they know there are firearms, and you think a mirror and some drywall is going to stop them, you are sadly mistaken. Security through obscurity has it's place, but to say it is a full replacement for a proper physical barrier like a safe is very wrong. Obfuscation is a great layer in your security plan, it should not be the entire plan.

I’ve been thinking of buying a modular shipping container home and installing a safe room in the master bedroom in lieu of an en suite washroom. To be fair op owns individual rifles worth more than my entire collection, this situation demands a gun bunker

Most "safes" are actually RSL's (residential safety containers). A true safe costs thousands of dollars and is a very costly investment.

On a good RSL like a liberty, the hardest part to get through is the door, the sides can be hacked/cut open much sooner if the burglar has room to swing at it or can reach it with a grinder. In the new house that I'm building, the liberty will be bolted to the slab with a block wall on either side (bond beams & core fills).

This isn't completely accurate. Residential Security Container (RSC) is an Underwriters Laboratory safe rating. They are actually pretty rare in Canada. RSCs are much more common in the US. Being an American thing, the Chinese and pacific rim garbage safes we get here (Brinks, First Alert, Sentry, Stack On crap from Costco and Canadian Tire) are not even up to the standards of a UL RSC. A lot of the American gun forums have a lot of hate for RSC-rated safes due to it being the lowest UL safe rating but the truth is, here in Canada, an RSC is better than 98% of gun safes available to us.

I wouldn't waste your time burying a safe in concrete. You will accomplish more using a self monitored alarm system and a couple motion sensitive cameras set to notify your smartphone. The sides might be the weakest link but the door of an RSC-rated safe is just as vulnerable to power tool attacks as the sides. It will have drill protection around the lock case but nothing to stop a grinder. You would accomplish roughly the same thing by simply bolting it down inside a closet. If you are going to mess with the construction of your home you would be better off going with a fire resistant vault door and a full size room.

If money is not an issue within reason, Graffunder and Inkas come to mind. Inkas has their Jupiter line which has a TRTL- 30x6 rating which is pretty dang solid for a home safe

Build a better mouse trap and it will get defeated eventually.
I doubt there is a "Be All , End All" best gun safe out there.
But, try and find it and when one does there will be a guy out there who just popped it open like it was a can of pop.
