Best high power scope for under $400?

Barska AR6 56mm Scope: 2.5x15 magnification. This is a high quality scope designed for large caliber rifles.
Love this scope. Under $400.

Hawke elicpse 30 side focus 6x24x50 for 269 at specialty shooting supplies. My next scope is the 4x16 sf. Going on my 300 win.

I have pretty much given up on finding a good, inexpensive, long range rifle scope (or spotting scope for that matter). Believe me, I tried a bunch. Many do well in lower magnification, but go higher and they reveal their low quality.

If I still wanted to give it one more try, I would probably take a look at the new Redfield Revenge 6-18x44. I have a Revolution 4-12X40 and it is good. The revenge line is made either in China or philippines, not sure which (Revolution is made in Oregon). So do your homework.

Also, I have heard a lot of good things about Mueller. This may help:

There used to be a member here who sold Muellers for a very attractive price.

Streching it to 600.00 will get you a Sightron, those are a real good value and the lowest i would consider to be a very good quality LR scope... JP.

How bout a Falcon Menace 4.5x18x56 !Come up in the ee usually in the $400 range!

Falcon's warranty sucks...the website says lifetime warranty but what they don't say is that they've only been doing that for the last 18 months or so. Basically if you don't have a receipt, you don't have a warranty. This is a huge deal when you can spend a little more to buy a Vortex or Leupold and get a better scope and hassle free warranty. Resale value is definately affected.
