It is time to enter the new millenium.
My 12 gauge autoloader hunting fleet is reaching the end of its effective lifespan.
My 3" semi was bought new in 1974, and it is just about done.
No need for 3 1/2 as I have a 10 ga on hand which shoots well for me.
I am looking for the best 3" 12 ga semi for all around use and abuse.
I have no predisposition toward any maker.
Just looking for the most durable and functional.
Prefer synthetic stock, other than that I am open.
Your opinions please....

Beretta A400 Xtreme Unico.

I have the Xplor Unico. Phenomenal gun. I've never had a single gun related failure in the thousands of rounds I've put through it. Reliably cycles everything from low recoil 7/8 oz 2.75" target loads to 2 1/4 oz 3.5" magnum 00 buck. I know you said you didn't want or need a 3.5" gun, but this one will reliably shoot 2.75" and 3" all day long.

The mag disconnect doesn't protrude like on the Browning Maxus, so won't ever snag on anything and hang up the gun. The Kick-off system works great at reducing felt recoil.

I would look hard at the Beretta as well. I have a couple 391s and an Extrema and they work really well. The 391 became the 400 series

If you have bee shooting the same gun since 74 and it fits you well and you hit what you pull the trigger on then I'd stick with any gun that matches the stock dimension like comb height and drop at heel etc.

Not all synthetic guns even with shims can change to match all dimensions.

The franchi guns fit me the best

The Winchester Super-X Model 3 are nice guns.Appears they have now been superseded by the Winchester Super-Model 4.Pretty much the same gun,so I have heard, with some small changes.

I'd set my budget, find every model that makes me feel warm and fuzzy and pick the one that felt best. Personal short list is in no order at all Remington V3, Browning maxus, Browning A5, Franchi Affinity, Winchester Sx3/ browning silver. I very much want to like the Benelli M2 but I like the balance of the ones listed even better.

What's the difference between the Ata Cy which is same as Weatherby sa08, and the mirage? I've seen it in for 75 dollars less than the Cy as well
