Just got the New Newfoundland Hunting guide in the mail. Sunday hunting will be permited from Nov 5th to Dec 10th (Jan 7th in eastern NF and untill April 30th/07 in Labrador!!!! PLUS: the bag limit on Black Bear has doubled from 1 to 2 animals per season! WOOPIE!!!!!!

Sunday hunting

for the diehards. That has been the best here. The other I would like to see come in is the no use of motorized vehicles off of trails or roads. It keeps the armchair hunters from F------ it up for the diehard sitters or stalkers.

From the bear forum:

####! Our brothers an' sisters on the rock are in for some bad times... I hear that the bag limit on us bears out there has been doubled... I don't know how to count, cause... well, I'm a bear. But this can't be good:(

It's about time. I hardly got any rabbit hunting done over my dog last year due to work/weather etc... It seemed like every time I'd get a chance to take the dog in the woods the weather wouldn't be fit and Sunday's weather would be perfect. Bunny numbers should be starting to pick up again this year as well, the cycle is on the upswing here now. perfect. I only wish we had Sunday hunting last year, went to a different area about 5 hours from home last year for a week, the first day we got there was a Sunday so we went for a look without the guns, we saw three moose which we could have killed ten times over, but it was sunday so we had no gun. Ended up coming home with no moose.

Yeah, but we always see animals on sundays because we can't shoot them. I always see the biggest animals when I don't have a gun!! When I have a gun, no animals...funny how that works out.

Happy Blasting!!! Common sense changes...

Hey, do you think they increased the bear quota to help the moose calves? I heard that the bears take an aweful lot of the calves in the first few weeks of life...

Cheers

And the smallest are in Labrador. So as a province NF & Lab have both the biggest and smallest Black Bears in the world. FUBAR huh?

Well, not sure on the moose calves, but Caribou are sure taking it hard from the Coyotes. The numbers of Caribou licences being issued are down this year.:(

I went out snowmobiling the other day up around the Howley/Gaff Topsails area. I saw 10 Yotes, and 4 fresh caribou kills just in the area around the cabin. There seem to be more coyotes then there are caribou!!

And the worst thing about the coyotes being in NFLD now is you will NEVER be able to get rid of them!!! Give it a couple years and they will be EVERYWHERE...

Friggen rotten critters

Cheers
Jay
