Forgive me if this is formatted oddly, but I'm posting this with my Blackberry. I was just wondering if the members here could recommend their favorite instructional videos for pistol? I know they don't constitute training/teaching, but it would be nice to get some helpful info prior to developing tons of bad habits I'm looking for:1. Links to YouTube videos that teach the basics2. Best commercial video productions that show basics as well as some more dynamic shooting drills (IPSC, Defensive Pistol, Tactical) so I can eventually learn to hit something other than a stationary target directly in front of me. I saw part of an interesting Guns & Ammo one--but am not qualified to say if it demonstrated pragmatic skills. Thanks

Either The Unit (any season will do) or The Departed, Gone Baby Gone are all pretty good. They all look especially good on Blu Ray.

edit: I FORGOT.. the movie from the clip in my signature: Tom Cruise in "Collateral" there is some great pistol play in that film!

I'm teasing, I don't know jack about this but I'm intent on hearing the suggestions! I've wondered about this myself quite a few times.

Google Clint Smith videos on youtube on how to clear pistol jams, three places for handgun, reloads, etc.

He is funny, explains it clearly, and shows you how to do it.

Magpul's "Dynamic Pistol" is a 4 DVD set, I got mine from Dave's (see top) - also you really should visit pistol-training.com. Both have lots of drills and exercises, and regardless of your opinion of Costa and Hailey they have a lot to offer in the way of practical advice, much of it learned the hard way. The Todd Jarret You tube video on how to hold a handgun is terrific too.

For free these are the four best free handgun resources that I found the most useful.

An excellent description of the two handed thumbs forward semi auto pistol grip. This write up ties in well with the next link.

Todd Jarret in a trailer for a video on pistol gripping and shooting. Lots of good hints.

Revolver handling. Five great vids from the master, Jerry Miculek.

Depends on the type of instruction you're looking for. Basic skills? Competition? Self-defense?

No.1. There are tons of youtube videos. Search for "shootingcoach" - IMO, the guy is amazing. He's got a bit of everything, from shooting stance to double-tap.

No.2. Matt Burkett's Practical Shooting.

No.3. Yes for Magpull & Valhalla series. Lately I really like G.Suarez' video:

He also has an advanced one.
