Best LAR15 mags and ...

I would really recommend against couplers unless you absolutely need the advantage in speed, like competition stuff or something, but heck then you should just get Beowulf mags.

The round will unseat and pop out or "creep" forward causing FTF, you will drop the mag, bend the feed lips and the mags effed.

Long before I made and sold stuff on the internet, I ran coupled LAR mags in competition shoots.

Never had an issue, never had the mythical "round creep" (LOL) never had bent feed lips, and always dropped my mags on the ground.

That's in six years of shooting .... just sayin'.

Agreed. There are competitive advantages and disadvantages to using coupled LAR mags but "advantage in speed" as Mini15 mentions isn't one of them imo.

Select Shooting Supplies has the D&H LAR15 10 round mags in stock. http://selectshootingsupplies.com/collections/ar-parts-mag-s/products/lar-15-xcr-pistol-mag

I haven't used them but they come with the upgraded Magpul follower so they have got to be better than the standard LARs that have been floating around for the past year or two. The ATRS mags are really nice but have been unobtainium for many months and last I heard were delayed again.

These are listing as XCR mags.... sorry to ask (newbie to AR world) , but will this fit AR15s such as the Norc CQa and others>?

Anyone tried the grey o'dell ones? Picked one up tonight and i think it may damage my brass like other described based on how hard it was to unload by hand.

i've been having to grind quite a bit off in order to get the rounds to freely unload by hand. Main area of focus is the front and back of the feed lips. There seems to be a slight curl to them which causes the case rim to catch. The rear of the feed lips need material taken off because it limits how far back in the mag the rounds sits and it end up only leaving about 1-2mm of cap between the front of the mag and the tip of the bullet making it impossible to load smoothly with a mag loader. Once i get all the materials removed and mags functioning perfectly i'll post a before and after pictures. Also the stock followers suck, changed over to the magpul ones and its definatly much smoother but not perfect.

I'd love some ATRS ones but I'm guessing that it's gonna be a while before we see 'em. Hopefully I'm wrong.

As for LAR15 mags, the best ones I've had are the XCR pistol mags with the orange follower from Wolverine.

Is this that ? Robinson Armament XCR-L Micro Pistol .223 10 Round Magazine, Product Code: XCR-MAG-223-10

Thanks.

Sorry, but what product are you referring ?

Thanks !

I have the grey ones, but I had to do a lot of fine tuning to feed reliably without damaging the brass. I am not that impressed with the quality. rounds would not push out of the mags without binding on the front lip and sides.

I have read good things about the polymer mags? cant remember the brand or where to get them.

Magpul work fine but they are blocked at 5.

(Sorry cant help the mag limit bs post this morning)
Mag limits are so dumb. It only impacts sport and target shooters like us. It's not like any criminal or ill minded person is going to respect mag limits anyway, so I wonder why they bother making laws for target shooters that already follow the laws anyway.
The better option would be to make a law that allows 30 round mags for sport shooting, but only allows criminals 5 rounds.... so at least they would pin their mags to 5 rounds before committing crime. (please see the sarcasm and dont reply telling me I am dumb). That way criminals would stick to 5 rounds and we could have 30. Which is quite the opposite of what is happening right now, they have 30 and we have 5-10, because we follow the law and they dont anyway.

But I guess the government does this to make the public feel safer, because "hey don't worry, we do not allow criminals to have more than 5 rounds". Oooohh god. So what happens is that the police have 30 rounds, criminals have 30 rounds, and sport shooters have 5-10.
And then the newspapers go nuts with the "loophole". Really, does anyone believe this is going to have any effect on public safety? Does anyone really believe a criminal will mess with small 10 round magazines anyway? Why bother with 10 unless you are target shooting and just want to have some fun at the range, and that's all the law allows you.

Feeling better thanks :p
