Best Lever Action Rifle?

I'm planning on purchasing a lever action rifle, but I am unsure on what makes a good lever action, what is a good value and why?
 
cant argue with a pre 64 winchester 94 30-30. solid relibal and classy. what do you plan to shoot with said lever gun?

For accuracy, the scoped BLR's with their detachable mags have always led the pack. My first sporter big game rifle (SMLE was 1st) was my Dad's early 1950's Savage 99F in .300 Savage. Our family has had a number of Model 99's in .308Win. so I have a soft spot for the Savage levers. For behind the seat, handy hunting lever's, I've tried Marlins & Winchesters in .30-30WCF, .44Mag, .45-70Govt, .348WCF and .375WCF. No complaints with any of 'em. Lever guns are fun, quick cycling rifles so go get whatever floats your boat and enjoy :)
 
Personally, I am not a huge lever fan, but I do prefer the Marlins, because you can easily remove the bolt, and clean from the breech. My 308MX is averaging 1" at 100 yards for 3 shot groups.
 
I have a Marlin 1895gbl a Rossi 92 in 44 and a couple of Winchester 94s in 30 30 my favorite is the Marlin but they are all fun.
 
For Plinking you can't go wrong with a .22LR cheap ammo and no sore shoulder. for a more interesting caliber try a .357 mag which can also shoot 38 sp. Winchester is first choice but if price is issue then marlin.
 
I use a '94 Big Bore in .444 Marlin. I set it up with a 1.5 - 4 scope and shoot through rings so I can use the irons if I need to. Have taken several whitetails with it and it just works great, and with leverevolution ammo it's good to 200 yards.
 
I like my rossi 65 SRC in .44 mag, light loads for targets, heavy for hunting. easy peesy and i only paid $400 used. I also have it slicked up for cowboy, it'll hold 11 in the tube now as well. That's just my two cents. skokie.

Great little guns! You'll have lots of fun shooting with it! The one nice thing about the .357 is that you can shoot .38 Special thru it for cheaper practice. Personally, I would choose the .44 Rem. Mag. version simply because it is a more versatile round, especially if you reload. You can also shoot the lower power.44 Special thru it if you don't reload.
