best lightweight rifle in 22 250

Although I am not a Browning fanboy, they've at least got the twist rate right. 1:9 on that 22-250 makes that rifle more appealing than anything else there. Otherwise I'd say get a used Tikka T3 and spin on a Proof Research steel barrel (#114780) Tikka factory contour 1:8

Ive shot all kinds of coyote rifles and settled on the Tikka T3. Its just so accurate, light and will only shoot a rifle with a detach mag. Heres a few pics of the dogs I shot and put up for sale. Im also a big advocate for the .204 for a fur round, less damage equals more money for me.

I just picked up a Christensen Ridgeline in 22-250 and I’m super impressed. Shoot 4 different kinds of factor ammo under and inch and it balances and points real nice. Not sure on exact weight but with the Swarovski z3 4-12x50 BT it can’t be over 8lbs.
One of my shooting partner bought a Tikka T3x Hunter in 22-250 for his son and it was so good for coyote that you then bought another one for himself (a T3x Lite) weeks later.
(Previously, he used a 25-06 Bar to hunt coyotes but found the T3x Lite much lighter and laser accurate).
Personally, I own 3 Tikka T3x Lite in 223 Rem, 243 Win, 308 Win and might get a 270 WSM soon!
The 3 rifles are very accurate even with factory ammo, with the 223 Rem and 308 Win being the most accurate followed by 243 Win.
With reloads the 243 Win is as accurate as the best 223 Rem and 308 Win factory ammo.
Quick note about 204 Ruger, I did notice that you can more easily pull off "impossible running shot" with a 4000 fps bullet rather than a "slow" 3000 fps bullet because of reduced flight time!

This the best answer, except this gun does not exist (ERROR 404). They did make a bunch of 223 Montana rifles, but they are tough to come by.
Also, your weight is off. A Montana in 7mm-08 is 5.2lbs. The mountain ascent is 4.75lbs and also not available in any varmint calibers
Either in 22-250 would be a dandy.
not in a 22-250, but in a 221 Fireball @ 3200 fps. Adding 800+ fps should extend the effective range, my longest shot was 290 yards
I just about bought one last year. Kinda wish I did as you never see them available in predator/varmint cals. at the dealers who stock em...usually just 6.5s and higher.

I had to get Clay at Prophet River to order mine in. It’s a 1/14 twist but it shoots all 55gr factory loads I tried under and inch. Very impressed so far.

NBT's are a little tougher than vmax's or blitzkings. Any of them can be a touch splashy up close at max speed. They do nothing positive for a coyotes long term health. The lead free versions may be different.
Maybe if I shoot enough coyotes this winter I will treat myself to one. Ive always wanted a rifle with a CF barrel. Thats a great twist for the 22-250 IMO....the whole point of the varmint cals is to push little pills really fast. If I want heavier bullets I pull out the .243

A Remington 700 Varminter in 22-250 factory with the 1 in 14 twist.
Great accuracy but eventually the 60 grain Sierra HP would not touch the lands.
Picked up a 223 barrel that had been spun off unused with the 1 in 12 twist.
Had it chambered to 22-250 and the accuracy with 50, 55 and 60 grain bullets is great.
It hasn't been bloodied yet but it will be.

I think a Tikka would be your best bet. My old T3 shot 55g Hornady Vmax the best from my testing. Was just a blued synthetic that I put a 4-12x40 Redfield on and a Boyd's prairie hunter stock. I loved that gun, Fit me so well and I was really confident with that .22 250.
Found a Sako 85 pretty much the same so gave my father the Boyds stock for his Tikka and sold the gun with original stock. My Sako shoots 50g better than 55s.
