Todbartell you are exactly right. As I said it's a ackley improved and does have a 26" Krieger. My first 100 brass were reloaded 7 times. I am in line as far as velocity goes with many other 25-06AI shooters. I have ran the 115 Berger over 3300 fps and know where and when I hit pressure. It's not a 257 Weatherby, but will run with one.

Well I ordered the model 700 Long Range in 25-06 today. Let's hope i can have some fun with it. Now to decide what to top. It with for glass.
For black bear and deer, I fall into the heavier bullet category for the .25-06. It is easy to load 120 grain Partitions to a very decent velocity and they will typically penetrate much deeper than the light stuff. Totally under-rated caliber in my opinion. A lot of moose have been KO'd up my way with the .25-06.
