Best looking handgun ever made??

Both of those are FUGLY.....but to each their own.

Nothing beats the classic look and lines of any number of high quality 1911s.

100% agree :)

I certainly appreciate all the varied styles out there and to the OP, a tip of the hat! Quite the cool little piece and time capsule!!
I may be biased but I’m a sucker for my Model 29 and then a distant second my 97B....

Looks like the basis for a good Sci-Fi or Steampunk revolver ... :>) Just kidding. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

Function of the cuts behind the trigger?

Looks like it's to accommodate either a left or right hand trigger finger.

Maybe not the best looking handguns ever made but decent to look at just the same.
Here's pictures of a couple of mine:

- Colt SAA, 45 Colt, 1906 - Colt New Service NWMP, 45 Colt, 1919

- A couple of S&W pre-27's, 7 3/8" and 6 "

My vote for the best looking handgun would be the Colt 1860 Army, the top one in the photo if your not familiar with them. I have always loved the lines of this revolver.
