Best lower priced O/U?

Hello All. This is my first post here. I was in the same boat a while back. I was looking at the Stoeger Condor, the Stevens 555 and a few other similar options. I decided to get an older used Citori and so far I am pretty happy with my decision. It can certainly kill birds and clay.

I think the Condor or the 555 would be fine for a few years if you will only go through a box of shells or two in a season and they are pretty light to carry in the field. I am not so sure they would stand up to heavy use though. While my Citori is pretty old it is built like a tank and my kids will be using it when I am gone.

I also intend to grab an old single shot Cooey in 16G and 20G. I have hunted with them as well and they have no issues talking grouse in the field. Like my old Citori, they are simple steel tanks your kids will enjoy. That, and if I happen to ding them up a little it ducking some pine or navigating some alders and thickets it won't be a big deal. These days it is hard to find quality and durability at bargain prices. The old Cooey breaks tick all of those boxes.

The Winchester 101 was a good sturdy gun, probably good deals to be found on a used one. Just make sure it has the chokes you want or that you can have them modified.
