Chev Ranger,
Great link, that article was chalked full of information.

I still see many who champion CLP but no one has an answer for oil that blows, burns or drips off of or out of your firearm. Again, grease does not.

Hey that's the same toolbox that I bought for my cleaning stuff. Someone else must be going through the Canadian tire catalog during the sales.

Oh really both colt canada and diemaco :bsFlag: same company buddy!

And they recommend you only use CLP and nothing elese other than in artic conditions there is a grafite powder for up there. I know a couple people that work for them... they flip if you try and use anything but CLP.... I thought wd40 was a good idea... who knew

I use CLP, buy it buy it by the gallon. Use it all my firearms, sometimes a couple dabs on my chin if I am going out for the evening!

I do use grease too on the surfaces that require lube, but use it sparingly. Usually my AR is nice and wet with CLP.

Brand new Sabre Defence 14.5" M4 with 1200 rounds through it so far, not one failure.

CLP I find will take off most firing residue, you just require some elbow grease and some proper tools, toothbrushes, patches etc. I do love Breakfree though, I think its a wonderful product.

I love lithium grease for the Dillon 550, keep that think smooth as silk and the rounds pumping out! Never yet tried lithium based lube on a firearm, probably because I see no real reason to change what has worked for 20+ years.

Yup. Don't fix what ain't broken. I always and only use CLP. Mostly because it's "cost effective" for me. :D

Also, I've got a Sabre Defence XR-15CQBR (292mm barrel) and it fires like a beaut! Haven't had a single stoppage after 400 rds, though granted, I haven't exactly stress tested it to battlefield standard but I'm convinced it would take quite a deal to shake it's performance. Plus, has the nicest bolt I've ever seen on any AR type weapon system! If I ever swap out receivers, I'm keeping the bolt. Sabre Defence Industries sure knows how to make 'em.

Cleaning Guns

If you want the best gun cleaner in the world it has to work well
It has to Clean,Lube and Protect your gun. All oils and grease are a magnet for dirt and grit,They break down and become sludge and congeal in the cold. Gunzilla is like a penatrating oil in goes into the pores in the metal and lifts out all the gunk thats there. It's made from a plant extract so no toxic sluge and no smell (So no wife commenting as you clean your guns)You don't need bore cleaner or gun oil Gunzilla does it with one product.Check it out out the internet.Brinks Toronto is now using it to clean their guns.

It is always threads like this one that make me wish there were some way to tell who actually uses their gear. Sure there is more then one way to skin a cat, but there is a difference between someone who puts ~1000rnds through their rifle in a year, all fair weather, and someone who puts ~1000rnds through in one day, in the snow.

i got that lube form from a post i put up a few months ago when i was asking about ATF as a cleaner and the guy put that up and the whole ATF as a cleaner is not bad just dose not work for copper and lead i have been using it for years now with no problems i just waned to see what others thought

We are still waiting on your answer about: where did you get that from????
And we are talking about your info saying COLT and DIEMACO blah blah blah...

We had a great post by sprint and then a bunch of chevy vs ford bull####

What other products out there match similar ingredients.

Sig supplied a tester of this stuff with my sig elite. It seems really good. I've been using slip 2000 EWL. I'm wondering tho these products must be available for other applications at 1/2 the price? Same ingredients different name. Just like steering fluid is really ATF and twice the price or worse. (stupid tax)

Looks like I'm going to have to contact Slip 2000 for an msds

Fluid film is worth a try specially if nothing else is available and before motor oil. I use fluid film for other guns that I want to coat all the little tight spots or just give a quick coat before storing it for a while. It comes in an aerosol can. Works very well for rust prevention and lubrication. It lists firearms as it's possible applications. Found at walmart near the WD40.

And Tactical Response does?

Well.....no they don't know all. But, you have to understand that the private sector is taking the lead and pushing the envelope when it comes to tactical shooting. There aren't many people in the military that have the luxury of putting a 1000+ through a carbine in one day.

Private training schools like TR/Magpul/EAG/BW advocate certain methods based on experience not what's written in a PAM or urban myths they were taught on basic. CLP works fine....but maybe there's something that works a bit better.

I get the impression that most people commenting on this don't shoot their rifles much and that's OK. Just realize that some of us do and have pushed beyond what most military/LE agencies can offer.

Well i stopped by CDN tire and bought this grease. It states that its for High Temps on the back.

I also plan on using it for my M14 and other firearms.

Good buy or bad buy?

Good buy. I run kleen-flo white lithium grease in my M-14s and Garand. I use it because it was the first grease I saw on the shelf when I went looking and it was cheap. But like Hungry says ANY grease, so long as it is grease. No doubt I would have bought the same grease you did if Canadian Tire was closer to my house than Lordco.

I run CLP in my AR because I have lots and love the smell and it is what I was taught to use on my C7 back in the day. That said, I don't run courses and fire 5-10,000 in a day, but I can't see why grease would be a bad thing in an AR.

I went up to Canadian tire to find some informantion on that grease. What it's made out of and what not.

Canadian Tire took 15mins to find out that they don't have the MSDS on that grease. The fellow said I would have to contact motomaster to find out who supplies them with this product and then contact them to get the MSDS.

I would do that if I was limited to their product.

Ideally they would have the MSDS for 3-4 greases so that one could compare and see what they like.

Canadian tire not having the MSDS... not professional

Sounds like the fellow offered to get it for you... I bet you're the first person to ever ask.

Frankly, I would be surprised if they had MSDS sheets on-hand for the thousands of chemicals they carry.

No, I don't work there or hold shares :p.

Let us know when you find out, this thread is very useful & interesting, that info would make it even more so.

:EDIT:  Oops, misread your post. Huh... he said YOU would need to contact them. Yeah, that's kinda' lame.

Cheers!
