Best Lube/Grease For AR's

0W20 Castrol Syn, properly applied, IMO put the lube on right area is way more important than the lube itself. Engine oil is more than enough, just dont use stuff that is too thick (20w50) in winter.

Froglube, its natural and I don't need to wash my hands 3 times or wear gloves when cleaning. It was designed by a Navy Seal and Brandon Webb endorses it so Boo hooo...

How much did Larry get for his endorsement????

Lol....

No full auto machine gun? Use what the hell you want. Pretty sure KY jelly would work. Now I use CLP for the rest.

P.S. Seriously last time I have seen an AR getting malfunctions because of the lube it was because it ran into a lot of abuse, sustained full auto fire and lube was almost not present. Anyone here get's malfunctions because of the lube they use? Really? I NEVER had any problems with a semi-auto because of the lube. Even if the thing was almost dry.

I was running my AR with frog lube in -35 with frog lube last week. 300 rounds. It ran perfectly. It was dirty as hell though but i used a little more than i usually do. in extreme cold should you use more lube or less lube?

Well said.

Honestly, there are dozens upon dozens of lubes that will work effectively - especially when you consider the average environment.
CGN'r decides to go shooting:
1) puts down IPad/laptop and closes CGN.
2) packs gear & cases their rifle(s)
3) drives to range and unpacks gear.
4) dumps up to a couple of hundred rounds through guns
5) pack it back up and goes home
6) unpacks gear or dumps stuff in gun room for 'future action'
7) eats Cheetos.

Exactly.. And to add not many people out there have the money to spend on ammunition to actually wear out there firearms anyways..

I find the froglube liquid dries out within a month and becomes all gummy. I lubed my shotty and thought I wiped out most of the excess but when I took it out to the range a month later in 3C temps, the hammer/trigger was so gummed up that the hammer would slowly lower itself after you pulled the trigger. I stripped the gun down, reheated the trigger assembly to soften up the Froglube and then flush it with some degreaser. My AR on the other hand worked well but to be fair, that rifle was stripped and clean only a couple weeks earlier so the lube wasn't dried out.

Similarly, I used to apply a small amount of Froglube on my 1911 slide after each cleaning and over the summer I guess it built up in the channel of the slide and got gummy to a point where you can see the slide slowly closing when you rack it or even firing it. Again, I had to heat up the parts and use a q-tip with alcohol to clean out the slide channels. I guess my original cleaning sessions were not thorough enough to get all the old lube out.

Yeah, but some of us put more rounds through our AR's in a month than most in more than a year.

in the old days it was 1000's round per trip for me at times, now it is between 300 to 500 rds but on several AR's usually now.
