Hey Gang

Been out of the M14 game for a while... crawling back in. What's the best scope mounts going these days for the Norc? How is M14.ca's Gen mount?

Thoughts?

Boy I missed the M14.

Just put an m14.ca casm-ex mount on mine, haven't shot it yet but simple install, made well and seems solid. Will report back after this weekend, going to put 60 or so rounds through it.

I know some people out there may not agree with me, and I am sure there are few good made in USA mounts out there, but I bought a m14.CA mount (removed my rear sight) awhile back, and I have been happy ever since. For a $140 Gen 1 mount it is well balanced btw price/performance.

My only gripe on the CASM was that it's very high up there. Check out some pics.
I now have the Promag, and with some tinkering it seems good. With a cheek riser my weld is good. With the CASM you're going to need like 2" of rise to be comfortable.

My opinion, there are basically 4 mounts right now:

If you want to use your rear sight, maybe use some ARMS 22 detatchable rings, then the ARMS 18 or PROMAG low profile are good mount: they allow you to use the iron sights at the sacrifce of a better scope base.

If you want a dedicated scope using M14 then the CASM or M14.ca mounts that bolt to the rear sight are best: they are stronger and a better mount than the ARMS/PROMAG but your iron sights are also useless.

you are right, i'm runing an archangel precision stock on mine, has riser/lop adjustments. i did have to raise the riser way up but so far i'm liking the set up.

The m14 casm has a little back up sight that is a little tricky but once you get used to it its quite efective! Over 2000 rounds with the casm mounted an not a problen! Holds zero! Not one single ejection probem!

+1 for the casm gen 2 , easy install and solid hold. Had a cheap mount from marstar and was a waste of money. Casm is Canadian made as well.

What would be the lowest sitting mount?

Arms 18 (or it's promag copy)
Steel, rock solid, lowest and just in case your optic craps out in the field, is clearanced down center for easy use the rifles Irons.
It's the Only mount I use

I'll add , I don't think a "best" mount exhists.
Really, the best mount is the one that satisfies your personal requirements and stays tight and holds zero.
Thankfully, and it didn't used to be this way, we have quite a few quality options to satisfy most folks load out requirements
