Hi Everyone!

So the wife decided to spoil me a bit on father's day and went out and bought me a Colt HBAR Match Competition (MT6700). It has an A3 upper rail with detachable irons.

I'm happy with the irons but I want to try and stretch it to its limits and really see it perform. I tried doing a search but didn't turn up much. What options are out there optic wise that will let me hit out to 600m or more consistantly? (other than me...lol)

I've been looking seriously at the ACOG's (TA31 or TA01) and some Leupold and Burris models so far. I'm not too keen on ELCAN models (use them at work...not my cup of tea). I'm giving myself a $1500 budget on this, so I wanna know what else is out there? What do you guy's (and girl's) recommend?

TIA

~ Brian

Considering 600m shooting, you would do well with a Nightforce NXS 2.5x10 power variable.
A 1x4 is a great option, but is very limited at the longer ranges (depending on your eyes, 400m plus)

I have an ACOG TA31F on my Swiss Arms and am very happy with it. Unfortunately, I've only shot it out to 200 yards, but will be taking it out to 500 when I'm done load development and get out to one of the ORA Service Conditions matches.

X2 the NXS 2.5-10 would be my first choice for a Service rifle optic.
IMO the night force glass makes an ACOG look like a toilet paper tube with saran wrap and lousy eye relief.

Thanks for all the great advice so far everyone!

I will admit, as my eyes get older having a little more magnification does have it's appeal :p I took a look at the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 NS and it really looks like the way to go. I also haven't been able to find a single bad review! Who carries them in Canada, more specifically is there any dealers in Ontario that you would recommend?

Also, does anyone here have experience with the Nightforce Velocity 600 reticle? It seems really load dependent and their online velocity reticle calc program link isn't active. :S

Added further...

Looked at ATRS and CRAFM...any others that I'm missing? I would prefer an Ontario dealer to deal face to face...

If you want to stay in your price range of $1500, you should be able to get one gently used and a new, excellent quality scope mount (I'd recommend American Defence) for under that.

Well, I understand that the NXS 2.5-10 retails for about $1650 new, still seems reasonable. Who carries American Defense in Canada? Do I need to order that from down south?

I took a look at their website, didn't see it listed. Anybody know what their pricing is like? I've never dealt with them before and would rather save the long distance call if I can. :)
