Hey guys, looking for an opinion on mounts/rings for my DPMS LR 308.

If I were to install a Leupold Mark 4, would what would be the best riser to use for proper cheek weld, or would it just be better to get high leupold base/rings.

lemme know what you think.

thanks

FraserJ20,
I have the same rifle. Don't use a riser. The rail on the LR-308 is already raised and there's no front sight to worry about. You want the scope to be fairly close to the rail. Get some snap caps for .308 and dry fire your rifle a bit. You'll find where the eyepiece for a scope would be with the lowest rings that work is about perfect. It's a very comfortable cheek weld.

I went with the Burris Tactical rings for mine. The glass will be a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x 50mm. I've checked it out and that glass fits the rifle well.

The only issue is the old AR problem with the charging handle. It's no big deal you just have to be carefull or get one of the extenders.

If I stopped buying new rifles I'd have glass on my LR-308 by now. Oh well. Soon.

nah, mine has the normal height of rail, plus shell deflector and forward assist (still has 24" ss bbl).

So I do need some sort of riser

any thoughts?

The nice thing about Larue levers is you can pull the scope and replace it without a Torque wrench.

(not that I can think of anytime in Iraq or Afghanistan I've taken my scope off)

I am sure Questar can get mounts in -- not sure of his costing.

You in 1 or 3VP ?

The problem with larue is they are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Made for they people who have specific needs.

No need to spend that much dough to shoot civilian style... unless name brands are important

But what is cheap??
How much does a piece of aluminum or steel have to cost?
Is a nice mount that costs $80 or $100 not as good as a $225 one??

Ever hear the saying *You got ripped off!*

In a word NO. You pay for quality, if you go cheap you will eventually be disappointed.
