Best new trigger for remington700 5r milspec

I got a Timney at 1.5lbs on my 700 and love it. Jewel triggers I heard are awesome too and adjustable down to 1.5oz!

The two above are the same triggers. The 510 has a black finish, the 512 is nickel plated. I bought my Timney from Accurate Action as well. Good folks to deal with but takes about 3-4days to ship out, at least with my order.

I had a Rifle basix on my previous target rifle and a Timney on the current one. Although the Timney is around 2 lbs, vs the 14 oz RB, I prefer the timney. To me it feels more solid, crisp and I prefer the wide blade.
 
How light do you want to go for trigger pull? A capable gun smith can work the factory trigger down to 1.5lbs or very close to. "Guntech" suggested this option to me when I was thinking about replacing the trigger on my 5r. At about 1/3rd the cost of a new trigger its a very good option . Mine breaks increadibly crisp and I'm very happy with it . It's no Jewell but for a rifle that never sees the bench and gets used for hunting at longer ranges its perfect
 
The X-mark on my Rem is one of the worst triggers i've ever had. Adjustment barely does anything and there's no consistency in the break. I went with a Timney, althought it's wider than I like.
 
To pay $150+ for a aftermarket trigger that goes down to 1.5 lbs is a waste of money, the older rem 700 triggers can be brought down to 1 lb ish and crisp.
The trigger like the Rifle Basic can be taken down to 4 oz cost $150+ most F class shooters are using triggers set around the 7 to 12oz
 
The X-Mark Pro that came with my 700 only went down to around 3.5lbs. It felt nice and crisp at home dry-firing it but at the range that trigger felt like 20lbs. :p

Is the OP intending to shoot F-class?
 
I loove my Timney tactical on my Rem700. For my benchrest gun, it has no safety but sure does break nice with a rediculously low pull. Coming from the X-mark was a huge improvement.

The Jewel HVR gives you the options to set trigger from 1.5oz all the way up to 4lbs

you can use the light spring for range time and one of the heavier springs for hunting/varmint shooting.

Best trigger out there IMO,
 
I just put a rifle basix on my sps tactical and it is such an improvement over the stock trigger. It came set at 8 oz from the factory and it is reasonably priced around $200. I got it from mystic precision if your interested.
 
I had a ACC-SD with the Pro-X, now have a 5R with the Timney.

IMO, Timney is not worth the price. I'm not an exceptional shot by any means, but I had the ProX feeling nearly identical to this one, so I see no improvement. Both were tuned down as low as they could go safely. The Timney is VERY sensitive to adjustment and it's a fine line between safe and unsafe.

If you change your Pro-X, go for a Jewel.
 
I have had a few timneys and had them set at 1.5lb but after getting a rifle basix kit and at 7oz I was in love. Keep in mind this is for a purely target rifle though. a 1.5lb timney is great for hunting but I really really like my rifle basix setup .

I ordered my Timneys from Mysticprecision and ordered the rifle-basix directly from them. They offered a generous military discount that I couldn't refuse.

my next build will 100% feature a rifle-basix trigger.

How is everyone getting their fifle basix so light? Mine is set at 1.5 lbs ish, and I'm sure I couldn't get it any lower without a "slam" fire. Maybe mine's a different model? It's on an r700, came with the safety.
