Hey guys.

I'm wondering what your though's are on the best non-1911 .45 pistol.

I'm asking about the Total Package (i.e) Reliability, ease of cleaning, field stripping, parts and mag avail, aftermarket support, warranty support.

If other....which one?

Your Feedback is appreciated.

I'm willing to say HK45 is the best even though I haven't shot it. Out of the one's I've shot, Sig 220 is the best.

Really?

I was under the impression mags and parts were next to impossible to locate. What is the Warranty support like in Canada for HK?

Sig 220 SAO. Absolutely faultless...

HK45 was patterned on the 1911... great reviews from everywhere. Yes, it's hard to find the pistol and mags in Canada because everyone in the US is buying them like hotcakes! I love my HK USP, which is my favourite pistol. HK45 is supposed to be way better.

Sig 220 and 1911 are single stack, therefore would be better for small hands I am sure. With my large hands, it doesn't matter much. Thinner grip feels good as does a large one. CZ97 is double stack and has a very large grip, which wouldn't work for people with small hands...

Haven't held or fired an HK45, but it's supposed to have superior ergonomics and the fantastic recoil reduction system.

Sig 220 should be on that Poll List... Best non-1911 .45 I have tried.

Ruger P345

after much investigation I decide on the P345 for my .45 of choice and was not disappointed! light, small, ergonomics, simple, recoil very light and the decocker lever is very nice feature...all around excellent weapon. The 1911's howeevr are very nice too and they were the original...not in line here but recently bought brownings .22 take on the 1911...can't say enough good about this little gun..if you get a chance don't miss a chance to look at and pick on up, I heard they are a limited run.

Ok, which one is best for smaller hands, the HK45?
While not as perfect a fit as my P30 was, my HK45 fits me (and my smallish hands) very well. It's nice that it was designed to hold ten rounds so the grip is not unnecessarily large like it'd be for a 12 or 13 round magazine. It does recoil noticeably lighter than an all-steel 1911.

If I had to pick a second choice it'd be the M&P45, especially considering the price you can get them for.
