Best non-res SHTF gun?

I as well agree on the bullpups being very ergonomic, another choice would be the hard hitting .308 round but I've never fired this firearm..

The Keltec RFB! Any takers?

i have both the Tavor and the RFB and here is why I give the Tavor the win...

FTE/FTF - you can see directly into the chamber via the ejection port on a Tavor....the RFB, your screwed.

I like the weight on the Tavor as well, the RFB is a tank.

the RFB does have it's advantages however as it will take down bigger game whereas with the Tavor, I hope you like eating alot of rabbit:D.

good old 870.... reliable, dependable, can be fixed with a rock, effective out to 100 meters, flexible and ammo can be found everywhere....

I like this, with the sole exception of the lack of ability to carry lots of ammo with you. It is bulky and heavy ammo, and you can usually fit 6-8 at best into the firearm, and reloads are slow.

I prefer a box magazine fed semi in .223 or .30 caliber for that respect.

FN FS2000. Excellent trigger, great ergonomics, deadly accurate. Mostly polymer which is impervious to the elements (including a gasket in the mag well). Also ejects out the front which is handy when you need to shoot out of a moving vehicle... (I kid, I kid... ;) ).

no tin foil neeeded to know history repeats itself lol alot of people dont know that during the great depression of the thirties the government went door to door and took all firearms away from citizins my dad lived through that he had great distrust for the government, and his family kept there guns refused to turn over they hid them instead people need to learn to stand up to government and police the way i see it they dont have enough room in the jails for a few million gun owners

:agree: More often than not we tend to be very poor students of history and our attention spans close to non-existent. SHTF scenarios can happen anywhere and anytime.

If the s**t actally hits the fan, I dont think it matters if its restricted or non-restricted. If you dont have a restricted license, get one! But if it must be non-restricted, Tavor, XCR, FS2000, AR-180b and Swiss Arms are good bets. Mini-14 or Cz-858 are really good for the money too. 870 would be the way to go with a shotgun.

I love how everyone is saying they want an 870 for a shotgun. I'll keep my bps, cause if the 870 you all talk about isn't more then 15 years old, I wouldn't trust it.

And for those of you choosing 308 over 223 for game reasons, a 223 can drop just about anything a 308 can. Just get closer and aim better. The extra power isn't worth the extra weight of ammo unless your planning on long range shooting regularly.

I'll take a Swiss arms with a 3x acog in 223 obviously, a sig p226, and my browning bps 12 gauge. I'd also bring a leupold 3-9x40 the use with the Swiss arms if I was hunting or had a lot of open ground to cover.

My brand new 870 Marine Magnum has worked flawlessly so far...shrug.

Awesome thread. Lots of fun reading this.

My choice is a sporterized SKS D with Tapco stock (telescoping butt, lighted post foregrip), L3 EOTech sights, single point sling.

Good all round firearm and optics for zombies and game.

+1.. tavor for the win :) but i dont think the RFB will be left behind either.. :) strapping it to my back for some extra kick when necessary

Sks would be terrible in a SHTF situation. After a day or two it would be rusted if using surplus ammo like most users have. Be sure to carry a bottle of windex with you when fighting the zombies.

Good reason to always have at least one can of non corrosive....Lot's of it around, and still cheap, compared to most ammo!
