The biggest question, of course, is "best bullpup" for what? Hunting requirements do differ from CQB requirements, and from long range precision shooting needs.
Lately there have been a bunch of new bullpups coming to Canada. FN PS90s are imported by Questar, and even an occasional FN FS2000. Out of the box their barrels are shorter then 18.5", but there are gunsmiths who can make you a new barrel. Neostead 2000 shotgun is listed for sale in EE. It's a shotty, but AFAIK it's non-restricted out of the box. 12 rounds too.
People of course mentioned Tavor and T97.
So don't listen to... hrm... people who are misinformed. As long as bullpup firearm is long enough overall, it is legal. Majority of bullpups have short barrels, however, so they end up being restricted.
There have been a few other bullpup designs brought to Canada over the years, that became prohibited. For example, according to Ottawa Sh|tizen database, in 2006 there were 69 of Steyer AUGs in private ownership in all of Canada (And quite a few more in business or museum hands). So if you have the right ticket on your PAL, and can find a seller, and don't mind the fact that you can only fire a prohib out of your window on your farm (without violating your license too much

, it reportedly is a great gun (But I never shot it myself, since I am too young).
Apparently there is also one FAMAS somewhere in Quebec, registered to a business.
the most common available are definately the Tavor and type 97 chi com crap
*sigh*
CatfishSteve, considering how few T97s are in private hands in Canada (and those are all restricted), and how happy the people that do have them seem to be, I'd love to learn more about your first hand negative experiences with T97.
So is your opinion on T97 is based on experience with a gun you own, or just on unsubstantiated bias against Chinese?
