The norinco m14 with a few mods? This is what gets tons of play on here and youd think nothing else existed by the sounds of it....

But there's the FNAR, 308 XCR, others im sure.....

Of course keep in mind weight, cost, and accuracy.

What other options are there out there as far as a 308/full power semi auto that is good for hunting, good enough for target shooting, can be carried in the bush, and doesnt cost millions

The M1 Garand 30 06 eight rounds legal capacity, if the deer, elk ,moose or bear doesn't go down you have a nice club for close work. Yeah its heavy but all those old guys carried them without much trouble . I just wish when I had bought my old one for $250 I had the foresight to get about 75 more ...

"Full Power"

Is that like "High Powered"? Can you tell me what calibre "Full Power" starts at.

Or similar to "High Capacity Mag"? (even though the 30rnd mag is the normal capacity produced?!?)

Maybe it's been a long night but seriously guys.

Ha, first thing I was thinking as well.

I have a "full powered" Cooey .22lr for you! It has a 8-32x Swarovski mounted on it and a hemi strapped to the side. Technically its full powered right?
I'm just buggin ya!
Looking for a black rifle or anything? Get a semi .50BMG in a bullpup. Now that'll get rid of any gophers!

Aw c'mon now... It wasn't exactly a malicious comment. He even went as far as to acknowledge that he knew he was coming off as a bit crusty... I think of it as a playful way to remind guys to use grown-up speak (no offense to the OP).

As for the matter at hand, I'll start off by saying that I'm a bit biased because I'm still in my RFB honneymoon phase. I'll start with the bad: The RFB is $2.5k to buy. The metric patern FAL mags are not the least bit easy to get your hands on. The break-in period and gas system adjustment is slightly agravating. The fire control selector has a slightly longer sweep than is comfortable with a thumb the size of mine. You might find the LOP a bit short, however spacers are available.

The good: I'm no expert on triggers, but the hype about the crispness doesn't seem to be fluff. It claims an exceptionally fast trigger 'lock time' which is a bit beyond my qualification to make a fuss about. Apparently it matters. I like how all the spent brass stays in a neat little pile ahead of the forend. I am also CRAZY about how simple it is to break down; You simply poke out 4 easily manipulated captive pins and it breaks apart. To remove the moving assembly from the frame requires removal of the charging handle which takes slightly more force than (my) bare hands can exert, but it is easily doable with a small fixed-blade knife.. When you fire it from a rest, be sure to shoulder it properly or the pistol grip will give your thumb/wrist a mild sprain after a range day. I also like the fact that the optics rail is mounted inseperably to the barrel. The gas piston is only an inch long and long linkage keeps a lot of the dirty away from the action.

YMMV

Ok. i will say it. I am no dealer.

What is 'Full Power'? Weak description.

Please explain what a 'Full Power' Rifle is?

Is it a .22
If money truly isn't an issue.....cz 22lr precision trainer drroooooool!!!

Looking at your posts, you seem to be a .22 guy. I guess everything would be 'Full Power' then. Hahahahahaha

My Mum was prevented from going down a certain road by the city police who said a man was seen carrying a "high-powered rifle". I was with her and asked the policeman what a low powered rifle was and how he could tell it was a "high powered rifle" if he had not even seen it. He got flustered at that but I was truly simply curious how he made his determination. I never did get an answer to that but the policeman said it might have just been a pellet gun. I guess we all like to sound impressive every once in a while.

Wow.

A number of you guys are really doing a great job of representing the community. After all the negativity it will be any wonder if the OP still wants to own firearms.
