Best NON-Restricted Semi-Auto 22LR

My vote is for the Gerarm model E-1 take-down. It's the only semi that I'm aware of that will reliably cycle CCI Quiets. Has no firing pin or extractor to break and does a double strike on the .22 case that absolutely makes it fire. Unfortunately, not manufactured since the early 1960's.

One more thing on the 10/22....
the stock trigger is not great...
spending the money on a few upgrades, like the sear/hammer etc. changes the way you experience the gun.
For example, this summer I checked the sighting on three 10/22's back to back. The one with power custom parts was like a sewing machine compared to the others. This upgrade is worth the money. The best trigger is probably the Kidd drop in, but that's a pricey item.

If you're "that" handy, you can do the upgrade yourself by watching youtube videos and modifying the existing parts. I've never gone there. The brimstone gunsmithing videos make it look pretty easy.

My grandpa has a Gevarm take-down 22. If you run Shorts in it, the bolt doesn't lock back and it dumps the mag on the first trigger pull. Open bolt semi autos... :)

I will have to try that wth the high velocity HP shorts, just for grins.

Remington 552 Speedmaster hands down! Will fire any crappy ammo you put in it including shorts. They are even accurate with a big scope too! I had to sell mine a long time ago for cash. They are pricey but come up used now and then. I will get another some day, a BDL model.

I have 2 597’s. One with tech sights and a voquartsen hammer that I use for grouse and another with the same hammer and a short heavy barrel in an archangel stock with a red dot and they both shoot great. Excellent triggers with the upgrade hammer and very accurate as well. The only issue I have is having to clean them often to avoid firing out of battery problems. This happened twice, but only when they were way overdue for a clean up. Also the 25 round mags are still legal.

I picked one up a while back because my 12x friend told me that the design is what Canada's first light machine gun was based on and I also found out that there is an import ban on them in the US because of how easy it is to convert to full auto. So I said the heck with it and bought one for $300. Love the take down and the fact that the bolt only has 3 parts. Also the French walnut on mind is quite nice.

so far i have found that the Ruger 10-22 is not what I expected since it is round and brand specific equals or next to junk. If a 22LR has to have one type of round to make it work right IMHO goes to scrap metal!
Mossberg 715T is a plastic covered piece of scrap metal equals more Junk. Plastic cover Scrap metal.
S&W 15-22 is a Restricted hole punch! No good in Canada except on a Range: more over priced scrap metal.
ISSC MK 22 has door hinge on the stock..pass!
is there anything out there be sides KEL-TEC SU-22CA....i have not found a KEL-TEC SU-22E which is a different stock.....or are there any others out there that are similar to the ones described here?
Does anyone know of a semi auto in an aggresive style that is NON restricted?

Do you want a rifle that shoots well, or do you want something that looks "evil'.
edit to add....what's your budget?

Yeah, I have nothing but love for my 10/22 stainless. It is a beast! it eats any ammo I put in reliably and never gets a cleaning until it starts jamming. (I think I've cleaned it 5 times in 12,000+ rounds).

Last year I lliterally found a a box of ammo from the 70's in an old tractor we picked up and it ate it up with no issues.
