Best Non SKS rifle?

Ok limiting my search to the following:
WK181C (if it ever gets produced). - AK mags a bonus
- I haven’t been able to find an MCR rifles
“ We will not be taking any pre-orders or back-orders for the WS-MCR”
Troy PAR conversion to 7.62x39 ... uses USGI 7.62x39 AR mags
Seems all roads go back to SKSD. LOL
M10x reviews are mixed. But at their price I’ll leave it off the list for now...

Vz58 platform is, in my opinion, the best platform ever available in 7.62x39 in Canada. Better than AKs, far better than the type81 or SKS-D.

None of these compare to the Vz, not that it matters anymore, but I'd also say none of these compare favorably even to the mediocre Type81.
I am not educated on the inner workings or modifications to the design that enabled china to make an sks with the AK style mag release.
Years ago in the hayday of buying SKS rifles at super low prices , no magazine restrictions, ammo was super cheap.... anyhow I owned all the various chinese models availlable at the time (early 90's) , the SKS-D , the SKS that came with the short AK mags and hunting style stock with rubber buttpad..... and the fixed mag models. D models were plentiful at Lever Arms in vancouver and I knew old man lever well enough to be able to hand pick whenever I purchased. Heck we bought a pallet of D models split between a few friends.
Anyhow, I do remember looking at the trigger groups and realizing the SKS-D was quite different to all the rest.
I also remember taking a good look at the "hunter" stock model I had and the modifications that were made to a regular fixed mag sks that enabled it to accept the shorty 10 reound AK mags.... or were they 5?
I don't really think there is a better shtf rifle than an SKS=D as far as the x39 goes.
Heck even the fixed mag sks serves it's purpose very well in hot zones around the globe.
For sheer simplicity and ruggedness, ease of cleaning and minute of man accuracy,,,,, what's not to like
well one think for the chinese sks d , there is a reason why they came with 5 rounds magazines ... the only one able to hold 30 rounds magazine perfectly is the Kodiak defense one. after owning a d, a kd i still the t81 is the answer. not a the actual price of course.
VZ 52/57 is the Cadillac of the 7.62x39 slingers! From approximately $800-$1000 shipped on the EE when they show up. So cheaper than any other rifle other than the SKS in that caliber and has a removable mag. (extras are expensive and kinda hard to find), but they run off of 5 round stripper clips, so it's super fast to reload anyway.
I'll be taking one into the bush this year for hunting with iron sights an I just bought a Magwedge quick rail to scope one of my run of the mill SKS's for scope use if I need or want that option. Love this round for my under 40 to 80 yard South Eastern ON. Deer hunting.

The SKS-D has an AK47 style mag release and functions perfectly with all AK magazines including drums, filled to thier designed capacity.... some better than others.
The sks you are referring to is a fixed mag sks converted to accept an AK magazine. This model still uses the sliding mag release that the Kodiak unit replaces. In it's factory form, this rifle will only function reliably with the short mags they came with , or AK47 magazines shortened to 10 round size. If you try to fire the rifle with a higher capacity magazine , the magazine will fall out of the rifle every shot
kd i ve shoot never failed wont say the same about sks d. they were not military version as well.
I don't think we are talking about the same "SKS-D" models my friend.
I have owned a couple dozen of them (at least) over the years, all with the AK-47 type magazine release and never a problem that wasn't ammo related.
Back before high capacity magazine restrictions all we had for our SKS-D rifles was 30 round AK mags and 75 round/100 round SKS/AK47 drum mags.
Thousands of rounds down range and magazine failures were simply not an issue
the chinese sks d are not made of military barrel. they were made for the US market and ended in Canada thanks of clinton ... but all is good if you like them and good luck with them. having tried most of the red rifles i stand on the t81, as the cz vz are gone for us poor peons.
haven't tried a T-81 so I can't compare.
Not a VZ/Cz fan after trying a few. Decent guns for sure but not my thing.

well as for the value all guns are today increasing for no reasons: other than shortage and fear ...
