I understand this has been discussed many times but I will get better information than trying to filter all the other info.

1. Who is the best dealer to buy a Norinco 1911 type pistol from?

2. Which is the best model to buy? I don't plan to feed it many rounds so cheap 9mm is not really an issue unless the 9mm is a better firearm. I would need two mags.

3. I am not very interested in flashy. The two tone is a bit over the top for me.

4. I don't have very big hands.

5. I like the look of the "Commander" vs. "Government".

6. I like the idea of .45. I saw a slogan that said ".45 ACP? Why shoot twice" (As in double tap). I thought that was kind of funny. I have shot many rounds of 9mm parabellum through a 9mm BHP. I enjoyed the BHP very much, but it would have to be the Inglis Military issue to interest me.

7. The prices on the EE are outrageous for used Norincos. I'd rather spend $25 less and buy from the dealer. LOL.

Thanks in advanced.

I wanted a Norinco, I waited 6 months and bought a colt series 70 combat commander. save the pennies and buy something with a little better fininsh. You will appreciate the difference.

Well sounds like you want a plain, .45 acp, black Commander, kinda answered it yourself lol. I got a .45 government and it shoots great. Whats nice about a norinco is you can toy around with the internals and what not without worrying about hurting a high end gun. Marstar or Badger Arms probably has them

Buy from Armco, his site is at the top. he goes through them, does the triggers, smooths them out and guarantees them for a year. a bit more than one that does not have this done, but worth it

I just received my Norinco Commander from Armco yesterday. The finish, for a Norinco, is pretty impressive. It was tunned by Gunnar, trigger is nice, light and crisp. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. From my initial impression, I would recommend it.

Yes. Probably a 1911 .45 black Commander. What is all the talk about double stack / single stack. I know what that means mechanically but what does it mean in regard to better or not?

I just bought a 1911 commander from
SFRC. From Ordering to unpacking the box, it
Was a breeze. 9 days from submission to having it
In my hands. Took it out today. Worked great. Was
Completely happy with it. And what's all this about the finish?
My buddy has a colt and this new shipment norinco
Is as nice. Imo.
I say go for it!

It refers to the magazine. whether or not the ammo single stacks or double stacks. Doesn't affect the guns performance. Only affects grip.

Try the norinco 1911 "sport" its what i have it isnt flashy, all black, but it has some upgrades that are definately necessary on the 1911. Considering the upgrades, it is the best "bang" for your buck out there. Mine is very accurate and quite the rugged little beast. single stack .45 is the only way to shoot if you cant do the job in 7-8 rounds you probably are ####ed anyways

I see your point, sort of, but intuitively viewing a less expensive 1911 as less risky to learn on, IMHO neglects the ultimate simplicity of the basic 1911 design. I'd argue that a training gun is unnecessary in the process of learning to disassemble/reassemble a 1911, if thats your point. If, on the other hand, you're talking power tools and TIG welders,,I agree :D.

My Kimber, Wilson and Colt each break down in a slightly different manner, (because of the models, not the makes), but are nonetheless simple and can all be dealt with using standard downloadable schematics and understanding that force = wrong. I haven't broken anything yet and I'm no expert, I assure you ;).

X2 on the sport. I bought the "flashy" two tone one and I love it. It's not that flashy really, kind of dull grey on the gun.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see they are a sponsor. I see they are at the top of the page.

The best Norinco 1911?

I've had a few Norinco 1911's & never had a lemon, yet. While I like the 1911A1 .45ACP version as it's traditional, they have also done a nice job with their "compact" [commander] version as well.

And I do really like the NP-29 [1911A1] single stack in 9mm. Here's the one I've just sold:

My preference is for the plain "Government" model 5" .45 in either blued or Parkerized finish. The ambi safety and beavertail on the Sport models are nice, but they have a number of features I don't like:

-Extended slide stop
-Extended magazine release
-Full length guide rod
-Ugly, front and rear, slide serrations

If I wanted something more than a bare-bones GI-style gun, I would prefer to spend money adding what I want than getting rid of what I don't want and still being stuck with an ugly slide.
