Best NR rifle

It's a modular rifle actually in my hands unlike past promises from several other vendors that never came through. Otherwise, it's ordinary, boring and works for me.

i hate to argue but the XCR is a very ordinary rifle, i have a XCR-M in my gun room for the last 5 year and it aint whorth much... JP.

Well think of the t97 as a mini 14 or m14 action with a 1/8 plastic cover over it with your face liying on it.

From Wikipedia :
The Chinese have constructed an export version, the QBZ-97, which is similar to the QBZ-95 in all respects except that it is chambered for#5.56×45mm NATOammunition instead of the original Chinese 5.8#mm cartridge and has a deep magazine well designed to accept#STANAG magazines. This rifle is currently used by Ginghis Security Academy, a Chinese private security group, supplementing their QBZ-95's.[13]

That mag redesign is supected by many for the many t97 suffering from ftf, basically the round will jam in the feedramp and push the bullet in the casing.

Ooooooh. I get u know, I thought u meant the T97s action can allow for an out of battery detonation...

Why the Tavor over X95. Just asking
The finish and ergonomics are better, some of the earlier models are a bit lighter, I prefer the charging handle and magazine release where they are (forward and aft) as there's one less point of failure with the magazine release - and aesthetically it just looks better. There's also more upgrade options at present (although that will change over time). In terms of accuracy, the CTAR I have will also out-shoot an X95 (not necessarily in my hands...).

My APC ran every type of ammo and every type of mags I threw at it. Still sold it because it was a front heavy pig... hahahhaah But I still think its top 3 worthy.

Swiss Arms doesn't make my top 3 for the simple fact it doesn't take AR mags.

5.56 rifles? First off, buy used. New prices are for suckers. With that in mind, of the ones I own/have owned/have tried:

Best gun overall: used restricted ACR ($2000) + NR barrel conversion ($750ish) - selling original barrel ($150ish) = $2600

Best gun for the price: used Tavor currently going for $1800 to $2000. They're a bargain.

Honorable mentions: recent production XCR light barrel keymod (~$2000 used), Famae 540 (~$2000 used), X95 (price is too high compared to the Tavor - will be worth considering when more used ones are available and the price comes down)

Not worth mentioning: T97 (sucky ergos, iffy reliability), CSA Vz58 (reliability and QC issues), Valmet M78 (too expensive and heavy), swissarms (too expensive)

APC223 is fine once you drop another $600 on a CTR + Riser setup, provided your forearms are up to the task... I would have preferred a pencil barrel.

I sold my APC NR and bought restricted. It is perfect with aimpoint, as it was originally designed. I like it more than my 10" PWS AR. It just feels like all Swiss rifles, built to outlive its owner.
