Best of what is left

I have 3 b&t's ( 223, 308, ghm-9g ) and once i got mags they liked ( steel / glock OEM ) have never had a failure after 1-2k+ rounds in each.
I dont shoot mil-surp or steel cased however, just off the shelf federal - all kinds from fmj to sierras
I dont even clean my ghm9 cause its a filthy beast and it doesnt even care.

EDIT: be prepared to spend though as the ergos SUCK without the new adjustable stock or the ACR conversion.
The ghm is very finicky to mounts as well - i ended up with a b&t acro QD. scalarworks is a nogo
I think my 308 with the 3.5 ACOG and accessories all in is like 10k

EDIT2: I still miss my tavor 7 I sold, its also a great rifle but the all plastic bothered me. It was 100% reliable with steel mags as well, but very inaccurate ( 4 moa avg compared to 1 MOA on the APC308 )

I'd have to agree. Right alongside these:

And these:

Or these (in any calibre offered by B+T):

Tavor/X95, Bren, APC, G36/SL8. At this point I'd even recommend a T97 before any of our current domestic 'black rifle' offerings.

Got myself two Brens and an X95. Sold off all my 180 variants, can't be bothered with rifles that aren't reliable.

I don't have a Bren so I can't comment but for 5.56, the X95 has been rock solid. Not a single hiccup. I have stopped cleaning it and it still runs reliably. All sorts of ammo. All sorts of mags. I love the ergos of it and I never have to worry about "will this break" like I do with my WK.\

The HK SL8 is not too shabby either.

I have the 11" CZ Bren 2 and it rocks. With that said mine came with a short stock and not the rifle length+Q/D mount one. I'd go 14" or 16" to get the right stock. I bought mine after market.

It really depends how much you shoot and what your understanding of reliability is. I saw in the other thread that one guy shooting 1,000 rounds/day, that's $800 of ammo in one day. I prefer having several rifles and enjoy the variety and tinkering with it. A Norinco T97 will go up to 10K rounds without a hick up. Do you shoot that much? It is fun to shoot and I can't see myself shelling out double the price for a X95.

On a side note, be vary of some people claiming that they only shot 500 rounds through one of those semis when selling them. I don't believe it. When buying a short barreled rifle, be also aware of the storage and transport regulations for restricted firearms.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Nutnfancy and his KelTec SU16. He loves them, as do many others who've had good luck with them. Some also like the KelTec RDB.

There's also the Benelli MR-1, but I don't know anything about them.
