Best off the shelf 22-250 round for coyotes?

You'll have to shoot some different factory loads to find what shoots best. Each rifle will usually be different than the next one like it.

Any 55gr SP would be a good place to start.

I shoot Hornady 55g V-Max out of my Tikka .22-250.

Out of the 8 coyotes I shot last winter, 7 no exits and one did a lot of damage.

All the no exits were shots from 200 yards or farther. Mostly right around 220 yards though. All broadside in the shoulder or straight on between the front legs in the chest. Minimal pelt damage

The other one I shot from about 40 yards, He was below me and I shot him straight on in the back and the bullet exited threw the stomache and made about a 5" hole in his stomache. Missed all major bone and didn't hit anything solid enough to stop it before it came out the other side! DRT though.
