"best" off the shelf 375 H&H

Not the Browning!

If your looking for a "normal" price, the CZ550 is impossible to beat.:) If $3700 doesn't scare you, check out the Kimber or better yet go for the Heym!

Gotta agree, price is wonderful on cz rifles, and if out after big bear, a plus indeed. But for a moose elk rifle, the custom shop 700 is a tack driver also. Amazing accuracy , and leupold makes some fine solid mounts for this rifle. The cz with express sights, put a scope on it, is pretty much like glassing a 94 winchester.:D

My experience is limited to my "new" Brno 602, recently acquired from another forum member. I had a Limbsaver recoil pad installed and the trigger cleaned up and had it out to the range for the first time yesterday. The rifle is scoped with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5 in Talley QD's.

My response to firing the .375 H&H for the first time was "Wow, that wasn't bad at all!" :D Accuracy was just over MOA (about 1 1/4" at 100 yards and around 3" at 200 yards).

Bottom line: I would recommend a Brno 602 to anybody looking for a .375.

Love my 550,has worked excellent and fine accuracy as well!!the heavyweight gun soaks up alot of recoil making it very pleasant to shoot.Much easier on the shoulder than a sako of the same caliber!

What's in your wallet :D good choice though, love the look of the Safari and African

well, IIRC, Dakotas are built on pre-64 Winchester model 70 designs. A Model 70 Classic isn't really that far off. Add a grand for an AAA exhibition-grade stock, and you have the next best thing to a real Dakota

i have an old rem 700 .375 h&h with multi porting and a pachmeyer recoail pad on it and i find it equal to my old .300 wsm. it has a fiberglass stock also but i was totally surprised by the little amount of recoil. i was expectint to end up on my arse but i shoot if fine in any position.

I think a Ruger No. 1 would be pretty cool to own in 375.
You bet it would, take advantage of that short action , to house long cartridges , and not increase overall length
Like anything, you can get real quick reloading a single, if you keep your head. But for the most part I agree.
