"best" off the shelf 375 H&H

Had a look around and was going to buy a Winchester in 375, just buy luck came across an old ZKK 602 that some older gent didn't need any more. Needless to say am very happy as I didn't think I would find one, Winchester would still be my second choice.

My experience is limited to my "new" Brno 602, recently acquired from another forum member. I had a Limbsaver recoil pad installed and the trigger cleaned up and had it out to the range for the first time yesterday. The rifle is scoped with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5 in Talley QD's.

My response to firing the .375 H&H for the first time was "Wow, that wasn't bad at all!" :D Accuracy was just over MOA (about 1 1/4" at 100 yards and around 3" at 200 yards).

Bottom line: I would recommend a Brno 602 to anybody looking for a .375.

Sounds like it found a good home...;)

.375 H&H Rem 700 XCR. Very accurate, Light, and the R3 recoil pad works great, and it is reasonably priced I think @$1000. Mine is topped off with leopold QWR and a VXIII 2.5-8x. For me this combo works great.

Just my 2 cents.

I also have a Sako full stock carbine in 375H&H...but I think the 602 is the better gun..

I think a Ruger No. 1 would be pretty cool to own in 375.

That's what I'm split over CZ or Ruger No.1. Apparently some people do hunt big game with them in Africa and reloads when practiced are almost as fast as a bolt gun.

Which one would you buy out of the currently available factory 375's?and why?

It would be stretching the "off-the-shelf" parameter, but I would order a Montana 1999 stainless barreled action and a McMillan stock, though realistically, in the wait time for Montana and McMillan you could dig up a M70 classic easily enough.

The Montana/McMillan route you'd get the barrel contour/length you want, and a choice of stock style and LOP (all McM Win M70 patterns will work on a M1999) for under 2k. They aren;t exactly off-the-shelf, but a couple phone calls and a visa card and you're in business.

I find 602/550's to be fairly bulky rifles with long bolt throws and deep bellys, at least for 375 H&H class stuff that easily fits in M98/M70/M700 class rifles.

This can be true. My #1 wears a shellholder on the buttstock, and I can eject a spent casing and fire in a new one quite fast... not AS fast as simply working a bolt, but fast enough.

I have a Winchester model 70 Super Express that consistantly shoots 1" groups at 100 yards with factory ammo.
