Best offline android gps?

Maverick. You can preload the sat imagery when you have service and save it to memory cache. Be sure to zoom in and save as well. I use it when I am in the mountains without cell service but still have Sat reception.

"Google Maps" has allowed you to store/cache chosen areas for offline usage for a while now. Not a topographical map or anything, but at least it's reliable...

I did not know that Google now allows you to store maps on your cellphone! Can you teach me how it is done?

Google maps satellite image has worked well for me when hunting or hiking, provided that you remember to pre-load it before entering the No cellphone signal zone. the new improved Google satellite image (available in some areas, still in progress) is incredibly detailed. i can see my hunt camp's outhouse! not sure if it is a good thing. :D

It's a google 'labs' option to pre-cache maps. Here you go:

Backcountry navigator pro. lets you save maps for offline use. Will download topo maps from all sorts of sources worldwide. couple of different compass options. tag pics to your current location. etc etc.
