Best Opinion For Accurate AR in 223?

I just picked up a STI Custom AR with a 16" stainless match barrel and JP single stage trigger, the quality is excellent (as with all STI products) and the trigger is absurdly light and creep free, much less pull weight than my Timney and Giselle. I am running a Zeiss 6.5-20 in a Burris PEPR mount... together they are a recipe for precision perfection in the ar platform. I also own several other AR's, and have owned LMT and Armalite in the past, I think the 16" stainless match barrels are ideal, but to make the most out of anything you will need to have a rifle that has a very consistent gas system.

I've been speaking with Dustin @ ATRS about a new upper built on their platform and for what I would get (18" SS mid-contour Lilja barrel in .223 Wylde, rifle length system, chrome plated BCG, ATRS upper, ATRS low profile gas block, ATRS brake, JP Enterprise 12.5” handguard) puts it in a really competitive market for higher-end uppers…actually cheaper than most.

I would be interested in getting feedback by those who’ve had ATRS build them precision/accuracy uppers.
 
As I've already stated, the only things you really need for an AR to shoot is a barrel and ammo.
Get a quality trigger for the nut behind the gun.
Assuming the same barrel used, the ATRS build is going to be more money than generic parts attached to that same barrel.
I've not had them make a rifle, (or upper or lower) but I have a couple of barrels from ATRS (a 24" Rock Creek and an 11.5" Lilja) and they both shoot exceptionally well.

My 18.5 inch ATRS barrel shoots all ammo well and some ammo exceptionally.
I put it into a Spikes upper with DD BCG and rifle buffer system. 100% reliable and super smooth.

Probably more than generic/entry level parts yes, but still less expensive than Noveske, JP, LMT and KAC for the same and comparable product. You should price one out (complete upper) and you'll see for yourself.

The point I'm making is you don't need any of the big name, big $$$ AR makers to have shooter that will run circles around most ARs out there. As long as you use a quality barrel with quality ammo, the rest of it doesn't really matter.

This is very true.

It should also be noted that some of the big name barrel makers are used by other companies. Noveske I recall uses PacNor blanks and finishes them, KAC uses Krieger, LMT SS barrels for the MRP are Rock Creek as are the CL and SS barrels for the MWS.

Doesn't this pretty much nullify any and all discussions on this board (many of which you bring excellent input into, especially on dare I say, higher-end products) about any other company than say NEA (piss poor finish, but solid barrels apparently) and thus the no-need for anything else than that company for the shooting community?

Nope. savage rifles shoot too yet I don't own any. If you just want a shooter then barrel and trigger. I like the nicer quality and extra features on some products. Often when you go to add all those extras that plain bargain rifle end up costing more. Let's face it a tricked out Norinco etc is a harder sell. Sort of like a tricked out Civic etc. Sure it can match a more expensive car but often I'd rather just have the nicer car.
