What do you guys think the best oprod spring guide is? I know that Rooster's are unavailable, Numrich squashed my order of any/all M1 parts, and Brownells is out of Sadlak ones. Is it best to wait for the Sadlak, or are the SA NM or the Badger NM just as good or better?

I've been said to wait for the marstar stainless one, best bang for your buck, so I believe it's not worth it to rush and get one in the US

Numrich squashed your order? I thought that they would ship up here as long as the appropriate paperwork was filled out? Did they ask you for an import permit, or just cancel your order?

ETA: I have a Rooster rod, he gave it to me last year at the NSCC.:)

This was the e-mail:
Dear Sir,

Your recent order was cancelled. The parts you ordered are for a restricted weapon (M14, M1A) and must be licensed with our U.S. State Dept. You would be required to mail us your order with an import permit from your government and we would be required to license this order with our U.S. State Dept. Also be advised we charge a $35 license fee. Some restricted parts are barrels, bolts, bolt assembly's, cylinders, MI Carbine parts and assault rifle parts. Also we do not export large capacity magazines, receivers, ammo, full auto parts and complete guns.

Thank you,

Last time I got one like that from Brownells on a completely different order, and I did get the permits from our government, just to have their government shut it down due to the reasons mentioned by the e-mail. I'm not going to play games for several weeks of bureaucratic crap to just get shut down. I'll find another source.

When I was looking for one, I had the same problem with the US suppliers. No one wanted to sell it to me.

Rooster would be a good choice if he was available but I didn't think that was a possibility so I called Marstar. They were out of stock at that point, I don't know about now though...

Left with no options, I decided to Bubba my own. Found an old chunk of SS shaft I had, chucked it in my baby lathe and turned and tapered it. Then got out the old hacksaw and profiled the other end. Drill two holes slightly offset and clean up with a chainsaw file....One Op rod spring guide:

I know this might not help those without the tools, but all you really need is a piece of bar stock and a machinist who will turn and taper it. The rest is simple hand work any one can do.

Wow, nice job. Bubba would be proud. Just goes to show what one can do with a little ingenuity. Wish I could afford a lathe (I've got a hacksaw though).
